W/hood cocks perform best when kept in a warm environment and when the suns on their backs. Fluctuating temperatures & a cold loft makes it a hell of a job to get them in condition, with the weather the way it is patience is the name of the game. I'm in the same position as yourself being a minute of the pace but I'll not be changing a thing.

I am the same. As Tony says they are better with sun on there back, North winds that is around at the moment wont help. Once summer gets here in full swing you'll see a difference, My hens hammered my cocks at race there on sat but I wont worry

If they fly well around the loft, they will get themselves fit enough to be amongst the winning pigeons, sometimes training in cold weather takes the edge off them.Only my opinion.

hi all

my cocks are flying for 40mins on a morning and 40 mins on a night

but when you trian them it takes them 25mins to fly 20 miles and on

race day they 1 or 2 mins behind

Hi there if your birds are doing 40mins twice a day theres not much wrong with them.

how often are you training them and what is the weather and tempreture while training as too much training can do more harm than good on this system?

also is your feeding system right too much or too little can throw them out.

I do agree with most comments on here that the weather is just too cold and erratic to get top form this early on, although my birds have hit the ground running so far, stick with the system and dont change about they will come good, just make sure the feeding system is ok.

I totally agree with what Tony c is saying the weather isn't constant and the loft spot on it's hard to gather any form. However if your widowhood cocks are flying continually for 40-60 minutes, in my experience they are not as Keith lemon says 'Bang Tidy'! my cocks are right when they are out of sight as soon as you let them out 15-20 mins and come back over, land and are like springs compressed and all explode in the sky continually doing this roughly every five minutes and when in the air they are spread all over the sky
