Guest Freebird Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 If doing a lot of pulling then defo get a diesel of at least 2.5 litre as you don't want to be overtaken by little boys on there bikes when taking on a gradient, Ha Ha! You will also get decent MPG and it will be easier on the engine. 4x4 will be less economical but great for pulling on most terraine. Go to Parkers site and read revues or maybe there is a caravan site will give you a better idea. If you have anyone in the know (not tyre kicker) then take them along and listen to them even if your heart is set on the "shiney" one and he disagrees (with explanation). Just remember once you have bought it, it's yours, warts and all. I take it you are buying second hand? Good luck.
Guest Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 C220 avantgarde estate 150 bhp 40 mpg best car i have ever owned and will be buying another when that one is done, also Mercedes will put a Brabus chip in it that will take it up to 205 bhp if you require more power.

showman Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Hi Jon Hope you have the budget for all these Mercs & BMW's !! Take a look at a Volvo. Another good car, although not sure as to pulling power, would be an Octavia Estate......seriously good value for money. Paul

Guest mick bowler Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Jon if you want a cheap 4 x 4 buy a Hyundai Tucson, i've had 2 now and they are ok for the money and with a 5 year warranty cheap to keep! The 2.0CRDi is the best and not a gut busting engine like some 4 x 4's.

Guest mick bowler Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 can be a problem with clutches if used for a lot of towing! Possibly Phil, we only had auto's.
