chickadee Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Debate is good Carol, But things always tend to get out of hand on here, with swearing and personal insults, if it can be done without this then, i see no problem No different from every Friday at the pigeon club or any other gathering, the trouble with the Internet there is not a human reaction with smiles, frowns, tone of voice etc :-/

showman Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Debate is good Carol, But things always tend to get out of hand on here, with swearing and personal insults, if it can be done without this then, i see no problem Have to agree with this thought. A lot of the time on PB a very good thread gets hi-jacked and can sink to quite desperate levels. I have seen swear words used, although the person placing the post has put in a few asterix so it's not as blatant looking. To an outsider, and even members of this forum who don't know individual fanciers , it can appear a bit scary at times, when you read posts on some threads. This is an open forum, and is easily accessed on a global basis. It is not biased to age, gender, religion, colour nor creed. Young people especially are to be protected, and some things posted on here are not a great advertisement for adult life, nor pigeon racing in general. Always remember a multi- faceted audience is watching !!
chickadee Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 stop shouting Alan ! Leave him alone he shouting praises about ME ;D ;D ;D
BLACK W F Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Billy what was it it aint the equal opertunities forum so why would there be a vote who or who should not be mods richard will pick who he wants for it to run as smoothly as possable so no hassle for him and if i owned it i would do the same thats life mate you either like it or suffer it and if not happy we all know what to do so thats it now whos for a wind up ha ha ha

If a kid knows what ---- means then he undoubtedly knows what the real word is, pigeon clubs and the classic being the Blackpool show is a prime example of how this sport thrives on members inter reaction, some that go to Blackpool have no interest in pigeons and others that are never even go to the show they just go for the banter and the atmosphere. I think that is how this site survives the way it does :-/
Guest peter.j Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 With Respect, Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, BUT i do think we have a great team of mods, who all do a fantastic job in trying to keep the peace for the good of the members, And yes the mods dont always agree on things, And yes whoever is on the team there is always going to be a clash of personalitites im afraid, that is life, But Just remember Moderators dont get any form of payment, they give up there time to help in the running of the site. And 95% of users respect that. But like i said if anyone does have a problem with any moderation of any kind, Then please dont pm each other moaning about it, or post on main board. As we all know what happens then, Please do contact Admin and they will try their best to help you out. There are ways to do things if you want a quick responce. And it does not help if we get Slagged on main forum. End of my input to the thread (for now) ;D All chill, its friday, Go have a crunchie i do beg to differ on this one pete you say you give up your time to mod i believe you would of been on site at the times you where on wether you where a mod or not so not really giving up your time but other than that i agree with everything you said .....,peter j
BLACK W F Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 yes pete you could sack a paperboy and do his round instead of being on here lol

BLACK W F Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 showman chill she did not spell it out but you must be living in a world of your own if you think kids dont know what it means your o k Carol dont think you said nothing wrong some folk need to chill and come into the real world
Guest peter.j Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Are you proud to use language like that ? Any thoughts about the kid that may not know ? If a kid doesnt know the word there hardly likely to know what two letters with a couple of stars between them are ......peter j
THE FIFER Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 The problem with this subject is: pigeon fanciers are in constituttional organisations, CLUBS, FEDERATIONS who each are run by their members and voted in place by them, they each have their rules, both have a governing body namely the UNIONS who make the constitutional rules which both clubs and federations have to abide by, the unions are the same as clubs and feds, their councils and officials are choosen by the members, club and fed rules must be approved by the union, and cannot over rule or conflict with any union rule, that is constitutional organisations, websites are not constitutional organisations, they are privately owned, just like a shop or business, so are governed by their owners, who are responsible for the sites, and like private businesses need the members so do their best to keep them happy by running a good shop, but, and yes listen to members questions etc, but as said they are not owned by the membership, I go into many websites but have yet to see any which is run by members they are run by the webmaster, and at the end of the day webmasters Mods are only keeping the site in line to run smovely so we can all benifit and enjoy them, thanks.
showman Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 She doesn't have to spell it out . So you think it's quite acceptable to swear on this open forum (asterix or no) ? Why not use acceptable language, and then no-one will be offended.
chickadee Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Are you proud to use language like that ? Any thoughts about the kid that may not know ? Not proud of it but I don't object to it, my husband swears like miner (as he was one) yet none of our kids swear in front of us not because they can't but because they choose not to, I am sure in their own different environments they behave the same way as do all kids and personally think everyone behaves the same way :-/

Guest peter.j Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 She doesn't have to spell it out . So you think it's quite acceptable to swear on this open forum (asterix or no) ? Why not use acceptable language, and then no-one will be offended. nobody says i accept it thats beside the point ,the point is its 2009 almost 2010 and i hear a lot worse every single day out of kids mouths some of the language i dont know what it means myself, its a fact of life that this language wether good or bad is a part of everyday conversation and as its an open forum as you keep saying if people feel the need to express themselves in this way with it being open they should be allowed to do so ....j.m.h.o......peter
showman Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Don't get me wrong Peter, I can use words that would make your eyes water !! What I'm saying is they should be curtailed on open forums, so no offence may be taken and possibly drive people away from getting involved.
Guest peter.j Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 i agree with you but its a fact of life we all have to accept these words etc are part of everyday english language ......peter

billt Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 We all know swearing is widely used verbally, but to sit there and type it is completely gratuitous
