THE FIFER Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 yes they do that m8, even get at the wee stones in the garden, I use matrix and they will eat lots of it, I am putting it in the feed hoppers after their food in small amounts,as they will eat all you give them, but its natural doing so when feeding young, but with matrix i dont have it in front of them all the time, as they will eat it,
Wiley Posted January 13, 2012 Report Posted January 13, 2012 Pigeons will over indulge on matrix they will eat it more readily then grain, do as it says on the tin, you won't go far wrong.

wings Posted January 14, 2012 Author Report Posted January 14, 2012 THEY'LL BE EATING MORE GRIT ETC BECAUSE OF THE SEED AND ANISEED IN THE MATRIX CAN'T SEE IT HURTING THEM I have been told today that giving grit every day will make there dropping loose because of the salt.
greenlands Posted January 14, 2012 Report Posted January 14, 2012 I have been told today that giving grit every day will make there dropping loose because of the salt. That's a new one on me mate,my pigeons get fresh grit every day a handful am. and pm.,they will eat more when feeding youngens so it will then be in front of them all the time
wings Posted January 14, 2012 Author Report Posted January 14, 2012 That's a new one on me mate,my pigeons get fresh grit every day a handful am. and pm.,they will eat more when feeding youngens so it will then be in front of them all the timeThey will Only eat more for the first few days until they stop producing milk Then they are only carrying food to regurgitate to the young. My thoughtsAre that they may not need as much grit because they will only be passing it on to the ybs
just ask me Posted January 15, 2012 Report Posted January 15, 2012 I have been told today that giving grit every day will make there dropping loose because of the salt. cant say ive seen that and its given to them everyday the birds love it apart from the nutrition and other health benefits they seem happy just picking around in it
