demolition man Posted January 6, 2012 Author Report Posted January 6, 2012 Not sure this is why i'm asking, I think most familys will fly upto 500ml on a good day once you get over that distance i believe the are special type of pigeons. some of the top distance lofts in the country wan't an arm and leg for pigeon jmo
demolition man Posted January 6, 2012 Author Report Posted January 6, 2012 being where you are i would go to top welsh people as its same kind of racing (hard)and they not mob flyers like the english TUT TUT

OLDYELLOW Posted January 6, 2012 Report Posted January 6, 2012 If I wanted a few distance birds I'd go look at what I got :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: Going to be trying a few Hagen's out this year got high hopes for them
Rooster J. Cogburn Posted January 6, 2012 Report Posted January 6, 2012 well maybe iam to honest but i proud of that ,if i cant do you good turn ill never do you a bad one. Like yourself and others on here I too am trying to build a team of birds to score well from the distance events.Found the people I've been in contact with, locally or otherwise,to be much the same and I've been fortunate enough to have bought and been gifted birds from these fanciers. Not to mention learning a lot from them and recievng some great advice. I speak with a lot less experience than most on here but I'm of the opinion a team of top long distance pigeons are made not bought.By this I mean there is a huge difference between good bloodlines and good pigeons. There are many who have spent small fortunes on the best bloodlines available and have never made the grade. There are also many who have founded dynasties of winners from pigeons they got from Jimmy down the road.Obviously you are giving yourself a good chance of success if you acquire birds as closely related as you can to winning pigeons down from generations of winning pigeons. This is only the beginning though. Any top long distance fanciers I've visited, although methods may vary, all tend to have similar philosophies and the ability to turn good bloodlines in good pigeons. This seems to be achieved through starting with a foundation of healthy birds maintained with sensible management and thoroughly tested at the distance year in year out, with no fear of losing pigeons-even birds which have scored previously.

peter pandy Posted January 6, 2012 Report Posted January 6, 2012 who would you go to for distance birdsWHO was the original question ! Well not to Tom, Dick or Harry. Their is a secret in distance racing and the easiest route is to obtain a number of birds from the same loft that does not have many losses.
