EVERYBODY involved was at fault, to varying degrees but none the less they were all wrong. Ticket guy shouldnae say "the train will sit here awe night if ye don't get aff" then threaten the boy with the other passengers by assuring him (the boy) that it would be HIM everyone got fed up with and not himself.

The boy was Out Of Order giving lip to the old guy and not producing a valid ticket that he CLAIMS he had on him, instead he tried to rip the proverbial out the auld guy, at this point the Ticket guy should have had the polis waiting at the next station to sort it out, as is protocol.

And the Big Man was wrang cos he never drapped the nut oan the boy affore he shuvved him aff. lmao!!!

I was surprised the publicity this generated last week, when youtube hits reached 1 million on the Monday, then newspapers picked it up, then national TV (BBC Breakfast Time had the 'filmer' plus an ex-cop on the show). I was far from comfortable watching the youtube video, I thought the Conductor had 'lost it' right away, and I knew the young guy if ejected from the train would try to get back on - and that is what happened and when an assault might have taken place - hard to tell with the number of bodies milling about at the door.

What the TV programme revealed was that the shouting & swearing at the Conductor started 5 minutes before the film did. So the train had already been delayed for that time at Linlithgow, and the Conductor had already taken 5 minutes of abuse not shown. No wonder he appeared to me to have lost it when the video started.

What the Conductor said about the other passengers was true, there's a train load of them all wanting just one thing - to get home, and any one or more of them could have got involved. They also don't like the idea of their paying for their ticket, and someone else doesn't.

The Conductor should have phoned for police assistance to meet him, Falkirk Grahamston 10 minutes away was maybe the best bet, there's a British Transport Police Office on the platform there, and if they were out, the Civi Police HQ is 5 minutes walk away and would attend if requested, so Police could have attended no bother.

So while I don't agree with what happened to the fares dodger - that is what I believe he is - and obviously others on the train thought so too, I can't agree that he was a 'puir wee soul' , his behaviour was out of order and he was as we say 'cruisin for a bruisin' and unfortunately that is just what he got - but it was his own bad behaviour that caused it, and no I wouldn't be condoning that behaviour if he was my son.
