Guest ljb107 Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 I put one clove to a drinker I should have said i crush the clove first and leave it in the drinker, until it needs a new one.
Guest IB Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 so do you crush it then take the bits out before giving to the birds thank you all for reading and replying Peel the skin of the bulb and cloves, then crush the cloves and put the liquid & crushed mash into the drinker, and top up with cold water. Keep the peelings and put them in a pail. When you change the drinker, drain water & mash into the pail too. When the birds are next having a bath, add whats in the pail to the birds bath water, and that'll clear them of lice & mites.

JohnQuinn Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 I have a 50ltr tank out the back that all water for the birds comes from. I put a full garlic bulb into it and leave it there, after 10/14 days the water smells of garlic and it gets stronger the longer it stays in there, when it starts to rot or the shoots have grown to about a foot long out of it, i put a fresh bulb into the water tank about a week before removing the original one. I Never let the tank get less than a quarter full before topping up with fresh water again, this is used the following day for the birds Never!! on the day it has been topped up, it must lay overnight before the birds are given it.100% Natural product that fills the Category "For all the good it does the birds, it definitely disnae do them any harm" Which was a saying my Da had about these idea's, meaning he wisnae convinced they worked but satisfied himself that even if he used this or that in the loft it widnae Harm his birds so was ok to try.
greenlands Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 I make my birds water up the night before I use it,I use 3 litre of water/day this time of year,so I crush three cloves into the water, with the crusher under the water.I read somewhere that once alicin contacts air you loose it.??
