Guest Owen Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 My wife loves to see the birds come home from the races and sees it as her job to act as spotter for me. From time to time we have visitors who like to sit on the Patio with my Wife and try to identify the birds as they come into view. I would not want my wife to have anything to do with the loft or the birds in it because I see that as exclusively my job. From time to time I chat about ideas and problems to do with the birds and she comes up with some really good ideas. This year I have done exceptionally well and I put a lot of it down to the loft I made last year. She is now encouraging me to make another loft of similar design to race the yearling from next year. I hope I can finish it on time.
john cumming Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 my mother, sister and my son all now have an interest in pigeon racing due to looking after my birds in my absence , i work in the oil industry offshore and away for two weeks at a time and if it wasn,t for them i would not be able to race the birds at all, funny thing is as the time has gone on they have become almost full time partners with me flying the birds, john

abbeypap Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 Our partnership is Mr & Mrs, I help with anything that needs done round the loft, I do all the driving for the training as well, that way Jim gets to stay at the loft and see them in. My own hobby of showing dogs takes a bit of a back seat during the racing season.

Wiley Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 My grandad who's 92 had pigeons 70 years ago in Derry on the famous lecky road. My uncle Ron Hales was a really good fancier on the Isle of Dogs racing in the one time very strong Millwall Club. My Father has had birds for over 40 years. Myself I have been in the lofts since crawling, the same as my little boy now. My nephew also had a very strong interest however with the other birds and with Millwall and peterbough as well as other clubs trying to sign him, he has other things on his mind. The misses can't stand the birds but she helps me when needed training ect
