REDCHEQHEN
When you have been having bad young bird seasons in the past Dave Power at the NEHU office has dealt with the strays for Scotland - as I think he is a regular visitor - it might be worth dropping Dave an e-mail nehu@nehu.co.uk I've had a few Scottish strays in myself this year (got a youngster in at the moment, but its getting picked up)

The UNC clashed with Hull NR on Sunday - I know that for sure, Hull NR were up at Whitley Bay around 6.30am and the UNC started liberating earlier than usual because of the forecast - I think they started liberating 7.00am from Worksop (West Durham were at Thoresby Hall as well) Officially because of DEFRA regulations, the UNC hold copies of their members PMV vaccination certificates at Hartlepool headquarters, and that is where the problem lies - they are only allowed to transport those pigeons for which they have vaccination certificates for, and every week, we as members have to sign a declaration to say the birds being sent have been vaccinated against PMV - and these declarations are given to the convoyer That is also the problem with the stray centre housing pigeons that do not have NEHU rings on (even though many members in the UNC have young birds bred by members in other organisations - it poses a big problem)
Guest IB
I wasn't at the SHU March Council Meeting, but I'm sure the subject of a transport link between SHU & NEHU Stray Centres was discussed at Meetings prior to that, so I don't know how far the proposal got.. As for the refusal to transport strays back to their own area stray centre on the transporter because the driver doesn't hold a vaccination certificate for them, IMO the regulations don't apply to these birds. They are not being released to fly home to their lofts, they are captive and held securely (just like a courier) it is only birds that are being released to fly home to their lofts that are subject to the vaccination regulations. And remember, before becoming lost they wouldn't have got in a race basket in the first place without the certificate. Easy enough to double-check my opinion with your local Animal Health Office. roselan
Thank you for these replies and although I can understand your caution our birds must all be vaccinated and PMV certificates signed by club official and copies left with club secretaries no signed form and they can't send their birds wing stamping is also compulsary these rules are for all RPRA members and are adhered to in my fed.The comments made by IB and Hendrik are also valid. We on the NR have few race points that aren't on your flight path as you scatter yourselves in the first 3 or 4 races accross the middle of the country. Also you have so many seperate Libs it takes all morning giving us no chance if weather closes in.
Mr Yorkie
The lads I know in Hull had good returns last Sunday and by the time the birds met with the UNC, if at all, they should have got their line of flight. The problem is, as us north roaders have always found is that the UNC sometimes act like the secret service and are reluctant to speak about lib times.
