sad day for me yesterday

had to take jack my 14 year old jack russell  to the vets yesterday and put to sleep miss him like hell rip my trusted faithful sometimes a bit crazy friend dont know if  i ever replace him one of a kind he was regards vinnie

shame its like losing a family member losing your dog .

sorry to hear that vinnie you won,t get one to replace him . you will get one similar in so many ways .the sooner the better as a young pup getting up to mischief  will put a smile back on your face.

many thanks for all the kind words ,fraizer i know how he felt mate ,i got jack at 9 months old he was a rescue dog he was hard work but very faithful the thing is the little blighters are very misunderstood he certainly was with a lot of people but not me or the family' just a bit worried about my 15 year old female russell  pinning for him funny as she was the boss will have to keep an eye on her' will feel a bit guilty if i replace him too soon but time will tell many thanks vinnie

very true, when i lost mine at the age of 14 i got a pup that is now 11 years time is not on his side, but at the end of the day you no that you have looked after them and given them a good home, im sure there will be a pup out there just waiting for you to pick him up and give him a good home. all the best.

I feel for you mate. I had to have my German Sheperd put down four yours ago. I still really miss her. I have not had the heart to have another dog since then. Perhaps I will one day but Meg was beyond relacing.

Ive got 2 lurchers and will always have at least 2 dogs  ;)

i had to get the last of my jacks put down 10 years ago at  19yrs.

 

when she was 17 i got a new lurcher pup and it gave her a new lease of life for the last couple of years trotting about the garden with the lurcher, ;)

 

got 5 lurchers now from 3yrs to 12 yrs old

their bravery 2nd to none.out with a mate walking when 3 guard dogs 2 rocky,s and a cross started trying to chew threw fence to get to us .his wee jack ran at them under gate in beside them trying to nip at them the 3 of them where in shock. (Tina the terror) what if they start mauling her said he. hard line says i.

I still have my jack russell and a springer who is 13 years old and recently showing signs of wear and tear, like you my jack russell aged six and is called Jack and would tackle a bull elephant brilliant with the grandchildren and pigeons  i feel for your loss  :'(

Sorry to hear of your loss Vinnie i know how you feel, i lost my Lakey cross ( Scud ) last year 18th june still breaks my heart, though i must admit it made it easier when i got my new Lakey cross ( Meg ) it realy eased the pain

sorry to hear that vinnie  i know how you feel mate i had to have my german shepard monty put to sleep cos of bad hips and he was only nine but a very big heavy dog  in the end he couldnt even stand up so it was the kindest thing to do  :(i got a lump in my throat every time i saw his ball or blanket and like owen have never got another dog    kev

thats myn in the pic he jack russ x patterdale he 4 year old if he went a wud be gutted he go's wher ever i go he sleeps at the bottom of me bed av got a lurcher and 2 cocker spaniels aswell a luv me dogs

Had the same thing happen xmas eve gone but my dog had been with me 17 years, its like losing a son.   :(

many thanks for all your kind words i will take some time out and then think hard about getting another i will be a granddad again any day now so at least i will have some happy news and be very busy soon regards vinnie

it's crap when this happens vinnie.i had to get the vet to put my mother in laws dog down a few years ago(that i had bought for her).it was 21 yrs old and fed a fish supper every week.so much for feeding a dog fancy food eh!it was put down at home and i must admit it was very upsetting.my wife and her  sister were in a terrible state.you will however get over it long as it may take.best thing to do is get yourself another pup.all the best.john
