Had my doos in the basket today for their first toss of the year, within 90 SECONDS there were 2 Peregrines all over them, Result?.........2 yearling ck's down, one of which is out of my good hen, the other a first timer who's hen just laid her 1st egg yesterday. What a fechin start to the season.

For the benefit of others this happened at The Forth roundabout so you might want to swerve it.

It was like watching the video of the Peregrines attack Arona Classic race birds, if it wisnae MA doos i would have been mesmerised by the way they worked the batch, Doos didnae know where to turn.

happened to us at dunbar on thursday peregrine just came from nowhere 4 split from the batch and it singled out a dark cheq, these things don't need to drop from height it was about a car length from the doo chasing it and it just dropped a gear and was just about to nail the doo but the doo done a half jink and the peregrine was knocked out of it's stride and the doo went to ground, you can only stand and watch and will the wee doo to fly it's heart out to escape these things, anyway we got all the birds home from the toss which was a plus point but a dark cheq hen was late in coming but survived thats the main thing

I'm sorry to hear this. There are places that I've been told / know from experience to stay clear of, Lanark and 'the' Forth are 2 out that way, and Dunbar. Been hit at Lanark and Dunbar.

Sorry to hear this john as stated on previous posts this is not now a local issue ,god no's the outcome in the next few years as they are breeding unchecked with full protection I Was speaking to a friend who has first hand info and all nest sites are occupied in this area with all having laid successfully bad enough for our old birds the youngsters will get slaughtered this is not racing as we used to no it ITS JUST A LOTTERY :emoticon-0179-headbang::emoticon-0179-headbang:

All I know is when used in the house the dog runs a mile, wont come near you when you have it on, and the smell lasts for ages, just thought maybe a wee squirt on the birds tails, a cat was coming to a corner of my garage and i squirted some around the area, not seen it since,

The only thing I would watch out for, is if the bird is pruning itself, and goes to the tail, this could burn the birds throat.

Thats ok, i would give them a strepsil at the same time

Ps..... 2nd toss today, Innerleithan which is about 35mls i'd guess. Another latebred Ck missing, but i expect heavy losses with them when i start them out, its the 6/8 that are left for the 2yr old stage that count.

had a toss from ikea the other day 3rd one from same spot , birds arrived singly whereas they had mostly arrived together on other tosses ended up 5 l/b short , by their manner would say a bop had a go , they were very edgy .

Sounds very like the bop has had a go, hope those missing in action turn up soon.
