Hi guys

Im in the middle of my first ever breeding season

and on my first round!

Ive noticed that now that some of the cocks and hens

are leaving the youngsters uncovered sometimes not all the

time the youngsters are about 7,8,9 days old is this normal?

I have also noticed some very watery droppings round the nest pan

of 2 youngsters! Surely this cant be right??

Any reply would be much help

Thanks Geo1234

Check where the parents came from and have they been vaccinated? If not and to be safe i would do all pigeons for PMV and Paratypus.

The droppings are only sloppy with a couple of pairs so I dont see a problem here. Watery feeders imo, put garlic in water and stop the excessive water intake.

Can i get orego stim from coxydeans guys is that a probiotic

yes mate i think they stock it . but something else you can try is powdered baby milk in the water it is very good for the squab and the parents . my vet told me to use it once a week when breeding as a great stimulant to the yb`s health , but as always some diagree lol .

I am the same, cant stand them BUT, I was in a top national guys loft and he had a few watery feeders. He said it didnt make any odds to the ybs??? To back this up he told me one of the ybs I pointed out won the longest race that year. Food for thought

i wouldnt worry too much about watery droppings from the squabs.i find in some pairs the droppings are more watery than others but this is not all through the rearing.as long as the droppings are of good colour plenty of grit and minerals, water changed daily they should be fine.also erego stim and things like natural yogurt is a good suppliment for all the birds.
