Walter swanston Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 I am afraid that I have to inform site members that the planning hearing for the falcon breeding centre at Westwater,Collin Bridge, Langholm was heard today and the application was granted by a majority of 9 to 5.There were 12 objectors who spoke including myself and the President of the SHU and we both made a good case for the pigeon fancy but to no avail. The hearing lasted about three hours and it was noticable to me at least that during the summing up there was no mention of the concerns of pigeon men.So there it is a breeding centre for 250 to 300 falcons is to be established at this site.In conclusion I am advised that a young falcon can bring up to £4000 in the middle-east while a pied, black and white or even better pure white can command £40000

billt Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 I don't think they will be flying loose at those prices so hopefully not too much concern for pigeon fanciers
geordie1234 Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 I don't think they will be flying loose at those prices so hopefully not too much concern for pigeon fanciersYeah hopefully bilit but its does show us that 9 to 5 people are against even considering the fancy
OLDYELLOW Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 I don't think they will be flying loose at those prices so hopefully not too much concern for pigeon fanciershow many will escape tho that's the worry for the local fanciers
yeboah Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Money and power stinks Walter a stitch up from the start shame on those Muppet's on the planning committee ,they received hundreds of objections and still it fell on deaf ears the blind leading the blind ,However well done for all your efforts you certainly gave it your best .You never no might get struck by lightening dangerous place up in them hills.

Guest bigda Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 ESCAPE IN NOT THE PROBLEM its what they do they sell them to the rspb 2 weeks before they are ready to fly they are taken to there new abode be it a church or a tall building they are fed privately there and once they take to the air they are wild to fend for them self, while this is going on there are others set up 20 mile away each tall building, the birds get used to there new home and will breed in them the next 2 years and they will have no fear as to where they live because that was all planed out
OLDYELLOW Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Even though planning result didn't go as hoped, I think a big vote of thanks is in order for Walter for his prolonged efforts in this matter yup well done Walter you tried , just unfortunate a lot of people can't truly see what's happening to our song birds and pigeons
Guest Tooshy Boy Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 EYE FOR EYE.IF THEY INTO THE LOFT THEY WILL MEET THE FERRETS.///
billt Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 I Think the public get taken in by their Title, RSPB, PROTECTION OF BIRDS, where in reality it should read, Some Birds
mcgrottys Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 EYE FOR EYE.IF THEY INTO THE LOFT THEY WILL MEET THE FERRETS./// burn it down.
cemetary Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Well done Walter, you tryed yir best mate.
THE FIFER Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 yes well done Walter, the only way anything will be done is if the general public start complaining about the songbirds being eaten alive etc, the vast majority of the public are interested in the song birds but very few in pigeons, yet the pigeon fanciers do lots for charity like the H 4 H and other things,
just ask me Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 who involved in running and building of this
