Starting to get youngsters hatching out in the stock loft, and all eggs were filled. The widowhood team have started laying now also, only the natural team to pair up, later on.

10 pair paired. 6 went down, 4 not down yet. 3 clear eggs out of 12, due to start hatching 9th onwards. Having a helluva better start to my breeding this year than last. Going to pair up the late breds in march so all going well should have a healthier number for this season. Good luck to all.

Planning on pairing up on 18th :emoticon-0127-lipssealed: shock this morning though to find half the hens in beside cocks, and a few cocks in the hens' end. Bolt that closes hens trap was missing, one of the cocks must have worked it loose, then they've hidden it. Last years pairs hunkered down, even tho I intend splitting them this year, 2 steps forward, 3 back. On lock-down again with chastity belts padlocked in place. :emoticon-0126-nerd:

After a disasterous start where i put 42 eggs in the bin due to the temp falling to -16 before xmas i managed to wean the survivors last night 9 in all. All widowhood cocks down now and starting to hatch out along with the stock birds. Some older cocks have had blank eggs up to now. Totals to date - 9 weaned / 10 more hatched / 23 pair down on eggs.

Far to busy at work but had already decided not to pair stock up till march hopefully better weather than at present ,don't take young of racers only at end of season as reward if they have flown really really well here's hoping :emoticon-0157-sun:

Paired up w/h team & stock Saturday just gone. After many hours (and many Paracetamol) pigeons now broken to their respective nestboxes and have the freedom of the loft. Nests are now being built with the occasional dust-up going on. Box 24 a yearling is troublesome and will be removed if he doesn't get he's head straight.

been parting young birds this week all looking good so first checked to see if feathered under their wings next wing stamped and telephone number rings fitted all one spotted and sprayed -this is something that has been done every year even tho they looked clean.so this w/end will make up my young bird list ready for innoculation, doesnt seem that long since i gave the sec my old bird list[november ]time flies.I am one of the ones that innoculate for paratyphus[spelling] but only the young birds.

the weather isnt going to be kind this w/end so a cage on the front of the loft will have to do as the wind is bad at the moment in the n/east and this w/end looks to be the same.

HOPE ALL YOUR EGGS HATCH-i am happy with mine.might try to take some pics tomorrow -but loading them is another matter, lol.

got 19 hatched lost a few to eggs not hatching due to the freezing weather at time of laying.9 of which are rung and a few to do tommorow.also had a well bred yearling cock who is paired to a very well bred young hen .thinking thay would make a good pair when i decide to put them in to on of the breeding lofts.the hen laid 2 eggs on bottom shelf of the small perch boxes Vere near on the bare wood in the freezing cold.i thought just leave them as each time i was in that secsion very rarely did i see either of them sitting them. i thought their is no chance of them hatching even held them up to sun light and both looked clearish. both hatched 3 days ago so will be keeping yb,s
