No only need remeasured when you move your own loft. RPRA provide Race point codes I think and then SHU work out distances from these locations.

they must measure from the racepoint to your loft location surely

i know in my club we have a large ordnance and survey map and our secretary puts a pin in the map where the loft is

guess they do the same with the racepoints

your loft is pin pointed on a local ordanance survey map and the details are worked out by the Reddings. The race points are pin pointed the same way and the measurements from race point to loft.

Correct and it's done on the circle system

nehu use the same but as of 2012 we are hopeing to be recalculated by gps so all the nehu lofts will have a more acurate measurement

great idea but very expensive for every loft to be redone

yes but will give a more acurate loft position =was told that some lofts where checked as an experiment and found to be quite a way out.so the nehu are busy checking things out.

Thats how all measurements should be done in my opinion.

gps is delibretly not accurate for national security

there is gps that takes position from 3 satellite and one that takes it from 5 satellite the second should be used as far as i know im sure there is ppl on here that will know more than me

i would imagine gps would be a lot more accurate than maps

prob more accurate than some old guy sticking a pin on an map if he has a o/s map for your area does anyone know if you can check with your union where your loft is on there o/s map

I'm not sure on this one:

GPS is only a location device. To measure the distance between 2 GPS locations anywhere on earth, I think you still need to use Creat Circle measurement.

If GPS is inherently inaccurate as members claim, better by far to stick a pin in a map.
