Maybe Gareth Rankin could answer that question better then me as i am not all that familiar with the family, but i do remember masons 1210 mentioned also the Bailleston Grizzles from way back and nimmo from newarthill.

Wait till the night and i will give you the pedigree of REF G and the Grizzles we bought at Andra,s sale.

Hi

Where did Andrews grizzels come from ?

The reason I ask this question is I attended

the late Owen McIvors sale in Carnwath and

Andrew and Ian MacDonough bought nearly every

grizzel in the sale

Cheers

lets not get mixed up her about A DEANS doos and JIM CULLEN doos jim has bean one of the most consistent national men in the west of scotland i can remember his own family of doos are second to none if you look at his open results in the past 10 year thare all thare and i think he has had more tickets in the first 10 in the west section than any one els so lets not get mixed up go on the SNFC result thare all thare his own famlie of doos so credet whare credet is due he has also been responsible for given good doos to others that have ither breed doos or scored themselfe budgy can tell you this

Yes Andra's family go back to Nimos Bent Lad the SNFC 1952 gold cup winner along with Willie Wilson and McIvor Bloodlines, like many of the top fanciers Andra was nit shy to try a few crosses with local long distance Fanciers.

The Grand Dam of ref G was bred by ourselves, this Red Griz hen was bred from Red Rocket our gold award winner when paired to our old Grizzle hen which was gifted to us by Andra in 1983, this hen was a very good racer but more importantly she left a line of very good long distance pigeons.

Look forward to being refreshed with the remaining pedigree.

The Grizzle Cock Ref G Sire @ Dam were both bred by Andra.

Sire Chq Pd G/sire was bred by Jim Hannah x 6084 which was one of Andras best hens being 2nd Sect 13th Open Sartilly 1991 and 37th Open Sartilly1993 which was Direct of the Ref A pair Pure Deans.

Dam Red Grizzle (Stock)2491.G/sire Mealy Cock 9042 Son of Ref A pair Pure Deans xRed Grizzle 2423 bred By G.Rankin &Son daughter of Red Rocket xGrizzle which is also a G/Daughter of Red Rocket.

As i have said before and as written on the pedigrees from Andra The very Best of West of Scotland SNFC Lines (ie) Deans/Hannah/Rankin Seven of the Eight G/Parents were all good winners the other one being a late breed 50% Deans 25% Hannah25%Rankin.

Nothing wrong in talking about the lines of birds to jim cullens birds

Think we all know how good a fancier he is but it goes to show he has class birds and the lines to prove the will last the test of time

yes i bought a grizzle cock at the late D Blackwoods clearance sale, the reason i went to this sale was because my wife was promised a pair of grizzles by a fancier from the Glasgow area two years previously when he came to collect a young bird we gifted him(still no sign of the promised grizzles after 4 years) i traced the origin of these grizzles, and it seems they are Bricouxs which originated from a Mr Copeland from Briech who i beleive was the grandfather of Dr Salmond from Shotts who also flies these grizzles. btw the first yb we bred from the cock we bought scored in the yb Nat 2009 and in 2010 another one scored and a bro. also timed on the day out of the seven birds we timed this year on the day four were bred from the grizzles including the nest mate of the dark cock you got Frank, however we have been lucky to acquire the sire and dam of the cock we bought at the sale through the kindness of a good friend of D.Blacwood.

good to know you are pleased with your yb,s Frank and are taking notice that some of the old strains which are all around our area are as good as you can get. With regard to the Mcivor grizzles i was a good friend of Peter Mcivor and went visiting lofts in the Solway and other places and got pigeons from him in the sixties and early seveties and the grizzles he had then originated from Berry a publican from Larkhall and he told me they were "Mason 12s", some of the older Larkhall members will probably know more about this, the pub was well known as Berries and may still be there
