THE FIFER Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 I would think security would be the first thing to consider, those days,

alex wight Posted December 31, 2010 Author Report Posted December 31, 2010 cheers boys. the allotments are secureish, but i,ve found the hard way that it doesnt matter what who or where you are, some people dont give a toss, and will get what they want any way they can. No where is secure not now a days, sadly.

Guest IB Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 ssshhhhhhhhhhhh lol lol we are looking for a bigger hoose, and fancy a new build, but your not allowed to keep the birds. So i,m trying different ways to have my cake and eat it ALL.lol.lol. Nice to see your still breathing best friend doog lol Similar position myself, except going into smaller property. Have given myself 2/3 years to explore options, one of which is flat + allotment, although recent experience with bad weather (bad enough with loft at back door goodness knows what trekking miles would have been like in that) and previous experience long time ago on leased railway land - vandalism + wildlife - makes it very last resort for me. Local Councils own lots of odd pieces of ground and will lease them out on a long term basis. One near me, the guy has 4 lofts on it and I think he gets that for around £100 p/a. Lease has conditions, and if you need planning permission for the buildings or your business trade, then the first condition is that you must get that that before the lease is granted. Others include erecting your own fence and maintaining it, the buildings and ground in good condition. The rent is due monthly by direct debit (I think) and its a condition that it is paid on time. If you do fall behind, its a court decree for the arrears / eviction but avoid those if you can because legal expenses will probably double what you owed them in rent.

deb Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 ssshhhhhhhhhhhh lol lol we are looking for a bigger hoose, and fancy a new build, but your not allowed to keep the birds. So i,m trying different ways to have my cake and eat it ALL.lol.lol.Nice to see your still breathing best friend doog lol Just a thought. We moved into mew build ten years ago,and took the birds with us.You would'nt beieve the amount of covernents that were imposed, even as far as not being able to park a carravan or works van on the drive over night.Strictly no sheds or green houses alowed. But the solsitor told us that the covernants were imposed by the builder and permision could be obtained,at a price. We have it in writing that we would be allowed two sheds as long as they could not be seen from the road at the front of the house,at a cost of £270 each pluss vat and a small admin charge from our solisitor. We moved in,got the birds settled, everything was going great till we decided to erect a conservatry. We were told we would have to take it down as it clearly states in the deeds no conservatrys.Back to the solisistors.Yes you have guessed it,£270 pluss vat and admin everything sweet again. Five years ago two others have started with pigeons and canaries without permission. The man with the canaries has had complaients due to the noise. But the council are not interested as they are private propperties. And now the builders have left they refuse to get involved, other than sending him a letter telling him he must apply to them for permision.AT A COST
alex wight Posted January 1, 2011 Author Report Posted January 1, 2011 Thank you very much deb, i,ll certainly bare that in mind, it would be fantastic if i could have them in the garden beside me. I,ll keep you posted, alex.
deb Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 Thank you very much deb, i,ll certainly bare that in mind, it would be fantastic if i could have them in the garden beside me. I,ll keep you posted, alex. Were we are the builders are desperate to sell.As much as 30%off.So I dont think they would let a couple of sheds stand in the way of a sale. When we bought our house, they were selling quite quikly. But they only seemed to be interested in making money from you.Had we not got permission,Icould'nt see them being that interested in inforcing the covernents once they have left the site.Unless there was something in it for them.Good luck Deb.

ovy1255 Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 town and country planning changed in 2008 [not sure about scotland]by the government not a piddling pen pusher at your local council,if you own your property you have a lot of rights that do not require you to put in planning permision google for same it might suprise you and also if the guy next door decides to build a conservatory within size limitations he doesnt need it either-things all changer in 2008.
