robbiedoo. Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 do you think this weather will make a dent in there numbers ? no chance i would say
OLDYELLOW Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 hopefully , although R.S.P.B mob will be out feeding them , but the harsh weather and lack of food and any that are weak will perish , unless picked up and fed up by R.S.P.B mob and released in better weather then these birds are not frightened by humans and can become a menace to bird keepers
Guest bigda Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 WELL NEVER kill A OLD STOCK BIRD or a sick bird take them down the road to my place or yours give them one more chance on the line of flight, they will do you a good turn,

tommy2 Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 do you think this weather will make a dent in there numbers ? Many peregines/hawks used to migrate anyway, only reason many more stay on here over winter is because most pigeon fanciers contiue to give them easy meals, pathetic to be honest, why do most pigeon boys cry about raptors taking their birds but do not even try to address the problem, proper idiots if you ask me.

tommy2 Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 How would you address the problem? Try to educate these fanciers concering nature that`s all around them, what it is ,and what it does, alas as the old saying goes ,you can lead a horse to water ,but cannot make it drink. These so called fanciers must get to know their ememy, thats a brilliant start, then use what little intelligence they have to minimise its effects, very easily done with the sparrowhawk, now just a slight inconvenience,if it all,as long as you do you homework, andmost important act on it. peregrines completely different ballgame, but they will bend if you do you homework.

I dont want them to migrate, i want them to stay and if they want to feed on my pigeons then so be it! Who am i to interfere with nature!

But remove the ring first ... unless you last a few years back of course in case you forget. See dozens at the markets being bought by the Asians for dinner, only a few pence each at that. Still everyone to their own and what dinner they Like guess.

Roland Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 Yep, my favourite would be rhubarb juice on the head.... Salt lard is good, but anything to make their last meal enjoyable is fine.
