Guest bigda Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 was speaking to, 4 easterly Nat men, who where saying they are not to happy about letting the lanarkshire and westerly none member fliers in to the races, as they think, should we get used to doing so they would lose there identity as distance racers, they prefer 2 races inland and one of them is the young bird national, as what distance the other they said Dorchester, i then asked what about eastbourne to far east, they said funny that when they are on the east or maybe they know there is loads of west wind and by the time the doos reach them they will be above there lofts no daft is them boys, must say they have a point about the inland races if you want to be called distance fliers. then again they have a choice as the snfc are offering more distance races and i think the real fliers will jump ship shortly. with this sort of attitude i think there could be a surprise at the next agm as to who goes with and how far you race from don't take my word for it but its a big percentage to the one i spoke with

swilcox Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Why dont you guys have 3 middle distance Nationals open to the whole of Scotland and the Averages winner would be the National Champion of Scotland, (Middle Distance) from say 150miles, 250miles and 300miles.(all approx) The 3 Long Distance Nationals open to the whole of Scotland and the Averages winner would be the National Champion of Scotland,(Long Distance) from say 400miles, 450miles and 550miles. Yb nat If I'm home I'd like to try and get to all bar the longest nat and the young bird one , they are a waist of time for me, that's the good thing about the snfc program races to suit all

Stu this has to be the way forward, 3 inland nationals. going by the entries in the inland races the last 2 years. the SNFC membership must want this type of racing. could be competing against huge entries from every section in scotland .plus it would boost the coffers !!

SNFC is about long distance racing and thats how it should be kept .. IMO.. i dont mind an inland (should be a classic/derby)as its a good yearling tester and obv brings money in to the club.. it went for years with Sartilly, Rennes, Nantes, Sartilly.. why not points of similar distances to these and an inland derby..??
JohnQuinn Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 I see the silly season is in full swing
alex wight Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 what distance is classed as long distance? just curious at to what everyone see's as being long distance. Why does all this agro come from a minority in the west? Me personally i think the whole thing is unfair. ie what is the best pigeon? the one that gets home to the shortest flying loft, or the one that times in in race time at the furthest flying loft? again just curious.
