personal opinion, spitting in the eye doesn't work, however plenty of fresh air, and a treatment of doxycycline, or preferable linco spectin injection works wonders

Dab a used teabag on the infected eye. Does the job. More importantly though you need to suus out WHY the bird has it in the first place.

most sencible answer to this prob , why has it got it ?,sort this out and bingo no more problem.

does anyone have a local remedy for one eyed cold

Easily cured, take your pic from above, but isolate the bird and scrub drinkers etc.

I have a bird with a one eyed cold. Will it ever be back to 100%?

So basicly what do you think Kill OR Cure???

why kill it?..its only a cold...if you have any hayfever eye drops handy then put two drops in the affected eye.

chloramphenicol is the best one to use.

it will come back to as it was b4. 100%

golden eye drops.

I tried the Golden eye drops a couple of years ago without success Pompy so went and got Aureomycin (spelling?) from the vet and a tiny pinch put straight into the eye cures it over night. However regardless of what you use to clear it up, the infected eye will lose some Depth of Colour compared to its original appearance.

I had a hen with quite bad eye and i put it on and with a day you can see the difference put i think i put it on for 3 days and she was spot in, Still in loft now ;D

Aye sounds good Andy, maybe give it a go this season to see if the doo retains its eye colouring cos the Aureomycin defo washes some of the colour out of the Iris.

Well, I've never had a problem with it until last year and had no idea what to treat so i went to farm and she gave me this to try so i used it :) I know why i got it last year, It was because i moved the perches into the area where they got into the way of the air flow, This year i've put new perches in so hopefully shouldn't be having the same problem, Atb Andy
