Snfc Rennes 1St & 2Nd July 1939

Shieldhill has produced many famous sons such as PBs very own MUTTLEY 1 and Rangers ace-Davie Weir .Its also where my dad and gran were born so for me personally this result gave me a lot of pleasure when I got hold of it.

Hope its of interest to some of the other PB members

 

4390 birds were liberated on the 1st of July 1939 at 7-10am into a west wind.The Anderson Bros. of Shieldhill clocked their Ch Pd hen "Flora Macdonald" at 4-59am July 2nd flying 550miles,recording a velocity of 1020ypm and winning the greatest pigeon race in Scotland.

Point of interest-in that result(1937) 80 of the top 100 pigeons belong to the West Section

Burrell Bros 4th doo i believe was 89th Open... another point of interest was that their 4 timers won £422, at that time a record sum.. wonder how much that is in today's money..??
