PIGEON_MAN Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Had a Red Grizzle cock 76.K.90040 which I bought at our club auction for £3.25,I flew natural then but this cock would be the first home no matter what nesting condition he was in,he won over 25 positions in the first four in the club and also took federation positions and won no end of pool money, only thing I dont remember was his breeding.Never had a bird since that was as consistant as he was.
Delboy Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Just before my time, my grandfather had a pigeon that scored in the top 3 in every race it went to.60mls- 550 mls, it was a flying machine. It was raced for 6 years and everytime it was sent, the club members wouldnt pool their pigeons as it won every time. This red cock won 4 times from SNFC Rennes 550 mls, best being 31st open 7,000 birds and one of the times their were around 20 people at loft waiting on it. They were all ready to leave about 11pm when someone shouted, "theres an owl" and it was the red cock landing.A big cheer went up as he was clocked. What a pigeon he was, funnily enough, he was the ugliest , mis-shapen bird you would ever see. He was very broad and it looked as if his legs were very far apart Shows you, they come in all shapes and sizes. This cock, never even had a name and he was undoubtedly one of the best pigeons ever in Scotland. The red cock was put to stock and bred a host of winners including, the sire of the famous "RED HACKLE" 1st west section 5th open Rennes ( sold to America for large sum )

No it didnt Jim, the breeding was Marriot x his own family( which was blended from the very best of local Scottish distance blood )
