was wondering if many of you guys are still letting out your birds for exercise.

if you have problems with the BOP i can see why you leave them locked up or in a heavy moult.

had my hens out for a bath today but all my 2010 youngsters are thrugh and the old ones not far behind.[youngsters where on the light this year]

lot of the older guys keep their pigeons locked up all winter in my club, but have heard when they do get out they loss an odd hen for no apparent reason.

I let my lot out on my days off for a bath and a pick about the garden. I daren't leave the loft though cos as sure as fate the s/hawk is into them as soon as i am. It hits them when i'm there too, but at least i can do something about it then, if you get ma drift.

I was watching the Peregrine above the lofts about 10 days ago but i've no seen it strike them, YET!!

i had them out a week or so back.. 3 times it jumped a doo on the landing board... nearly got it with my hands when it hit the 2nd doo i was that close..!!! stupid hen s/h then sat up in a bi burnt out tree 50ft away.. ill leave the rest to your immagination..lol

but the cock is still at large as i saw the remains of a streeter out on the path yesterday..

im not bad i hva ethe aviary to get them out in the bath a few times a week.. and i dont really see the point in wearing out their new flights thru the winter.. be after new year before there back out

Don't think they need to be out that often this time of year, work & short daylight hours means weekends only for mine, one sex on Saturday, other on Sunday. Basically out for an hour or so, moult determines if they'll go for a spin or potter about garden, then they're in & fed and a bath put down for them in the aviary.

mine aswell they are badly needing a bath but i wont take a chance new year before mine will be out

i know what you mean mate ive been putting the bath in the lofts .then drying it out with blow torch

Mine are on permanent open loft and for some reason I don't have a BOP problem, I live in the wilds in West Wales, had a male Gos early in the year had 4 in 9 days but nothing since :)

Had mine out this morning!! Sparrowhawk dived into loft doorway after my white cockbird, threw a lump hammer at it but missed :blink:

As stated in a previous thread, I was letting my race cocks out every weekend for a fly and a bath, utill BOP decided to take one, so all are locked up for the winterhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif

best to leave them locked up hopefully be a cold winter and hopefully a few bops will starve , natures way of only the strongest and fittest surviving ;)

Sadly Winter and snow covering must be an easy feed for BOP's, birds easily seen and a bit slow through lack of food.

all birds are out flying most days unless weather is severe.

some will start training in 2 weeks for xmus race .

race flown saturday before xmus.
