Was reading my BHW page 94, where The House Of Aarden,s Steve Wright is advertising birds with the Vlekje blood,

Well here are a couple of pictures of my stock hen, which is a grand daughter of Vlekje. Typical with the Kuifhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif

Yes Sammy, she has bred club winners for myself and another member I gifted a youngster to, as far as 500 miles plus races, I have had birds from this hen come from these races, but not up with the winners, however I do not blame the hen, as I myself am still learning on how to prepare birds for the channel races. What I would say is, she is a little bit too small for my liking,, the guy I bought her from as a youngster, stated that if I ever decided to let her go, he wanted first refusal, but that would be my decisionhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif she has always been paired to the same Aarden stock cock, who I have gifted to someone else lately, so not quite sure about her future yethttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif

This is the Aarden cock she has always been paired to, but I have promised this cock to someone, once he is through the moulthttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif

Hi Brian, if you go onto Elimar pigeon auctions, grand children of Vlekje are starting at £500. You cant get any closer to the champion Vlekje as he was a 1981 pigeon.

Just had a look at the ad in this week's BHW, nice looking birds but have they bred anything in terms of distance performers

Not knocking the guy at all and he has every right to be proud of his birds.

I'm just curious :D

Buy them At your Peril but believe me the 98% rises to 99.99% and the shi-te rule really kicks. ;)

I thought one of your Van Geel cocks Andy was the sire of Jim Hannahs LITTLE WONDER, 2nd Open Andrezel ???

It was Derek but of the Fortune we spent on them and the youngsters bred from them the only one that came up to scratch was Jims Little Wonder. How many of this family do you think have been bred since they were introuduced and the % off Shi-te is we  ll in the 99%.

We had Sammy and believe me they were tested. The Late Ian McGhie had one which he called Papa Peter which is the only pre-potent Cock that i know off and it churned out winners after winners in the SNFC but none of thier off-spring left anything.

Aye Andy, PAPA PETER was a cracking cock. His offspring were *expletive removed* brilliant at the distance BUT I think the key to his success was that Ian recognised the importance of crossing these Van Geels with the very best of Scottish distance families.eg his wee , ugly :D red hen, that was bred by J.Ellis of Dundee <_< this pair churned out loads of top birds
