What I've been told, don’t know if its cobblers or not, look out for T&G made from Russian pine as apparently it grows much slower in the colder climates and this stops it from shrinking and gaps appearing in the T&G

yeah, good marine ply, it`ll never rot, plus its smooth for cleaning, not like chip board

I'm also going to have a go at building my own loft.

I have decided to build it in upvc cladding and line the inside, upvc is a lot cheaper than wood.

Email Duncan dovescot@blueyonder.co.uk and he will help you get wood at a good price, he built this one from scratch but he says it depends on what style you want, what room you have or what you are wanting to spend

He used 3x2 framing, weather board on the out sides, 18mm tongue and groove flooring, 6mm ply lining which can be changed if need be, 4x2 roof bearers, sterling board on the roof with metal sheeting and triple comb polypropylene on the aviary roof, so he says  ;D

very well built loft only problem is that its sitting directly on the ground it could do with being raised up a few inches to let the air under it and to stop the wood rotting thats in contact with the ground

i would recomend having it straight on the ground(stops mice and other vermin nesting underneath), 2x2 framework or thicker. if building it is what you want to do allthough i would recomend buying one, the souring proce o fwood and everything else will make it very expensive. i know this because i work in the industry. wish u the best of look. :) :) :)

I built my own. Far better as then you can have it exactly the way you want it. Saying that I have tweeked a few things since the loft went up. Ventilation and light the biggest factors I took into account.
