JohnQuinn Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 You could do them 50/50 Frank, best of both worlds for the doos.

sapper756 Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 When I first built my aviary it did not have a roof fitted, but within a matter of months I decided to fit a clear corrigated perspex roof.http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif
Guest peter4pm Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 yea a perpex roof is essential , especialy if you live in scotland.Btw ...whats the best to use to make a wire floor on the aviary base ...at the min ive just got bare slabs down..but its a pain having to powerwash them every other day as they get in such a state, and the birds are always pecking around ....?
symbol_of_hope Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Rooooof. Where the smeg are you power-washing the gunk away to? Rainy, mucky droppings all over the place is a grim affair if you ask me.
Guest peter4pm Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 no i scrapes the slabs first silly
Guest Owen Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 I have used aviaries for some years and I think there is nothing better to promote the health of the birds. I like to provide about 1/3 of the roof in something solid to give the birds a feeling of security. My aviaries have a concrete floors with a wire mesh fitted above them. Cleaning is very easy because I just hose them down a couple of times a week. The birds can have a bath any time without the threat of a Cat or Sparrow Hawk jumping on them. Where you have Prisoners it is great for the birds because they can enjoy a reletively natural life without the risk of loosing them. I lke to sit near my aviaries and just watch the birds, it is very relaxing, I find.
