sapper756 Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 What was the birdage tonight at your club/fed basketing?http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif
thunderbigbaws Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 only 300 and odds away from methil :( :(
alex wight Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 Around about the same from the west section o fife. pretty poor, it would be interesting to know how and who the members are that have sent, thus supporting the fed. I know we have been hit hard, but our federation isn't going to be able to afford these types of birdages, and in my eyes the only way is down. A lot of thinking is needed, and sooner rather than later. :(

Ian McKay Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 set a fee so every one pays the same a one off fee that's what we do in Aberdeen Aye and it was Stevies idea I was totally opposed to it but I can assure you it's been the best proposal ever. Well done Steve and co :D
alex wight Posted September 3, 2010 Report Posted September 3, 2010 set a fee so every one pays the same a one off fee that's what we do in Aberdeen It takes some of them to pay the fee's we already pay. my way of thinking is set a proposed cost for the season ie £16,500 divided by the membership 165, = 100 each sorted. whether there is 1 bird on the back or 3000, its all paid for, simple, but oh no no no not on your nelly will that work.

thunderbigbaws Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 it worked in Aberdeen we pay £115 for the whole season a bargain you have to propose it for your AGM we had a meet just before the agm mostly east section members and we all agreed on sum of money per member and that was your birdage paid for the season. took it to the agm and the same members who agreed at the previous meeting voted agenst it. they would rather see the fed running at a loss. bye the way some of them are on this site

thunderbigbaws Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 they dont understand we have to meet the costs and putting it on birdage doesnt work they just send less birds

sapper756 Posted September 4, 2010 Author Report Posted September 4, 2010 Firstly I would like to say I did not attend any pre AGM meetinghttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif We all know that most Federations are struggling to make ends meet, and monies are needed, I was one of the 15 fed members who put a late bred into the recent Fed sale, and also bought one, so maybe if more of the fed members supported money raising events such as fed sales, this would help,With regards to every member paying a one off fee, this in my opinion will not happen,as was proved when it died on its feet at the AGM, the thoughts of the members were, why should some one who flies 3 or 4 birds per week, supplement those that fly in excess of 40 to 60 birds a week. Also we need to look at our membership, of which the majority are OAP, so to make such drastic increases in fees, would result in some if not most, leaving the sport they enjoy. Then what do you do?, increase the fees further to meet the shortfallhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif I am fortunate, because I do work for a living and could afford to pay, but I believe in looking at the bigger picture, and consider those that could not. In saying all that, I do not know the answer, but as I have said before, if members supported Federation sales, this would be a start. This is simply my opinionhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif
thunderbigbaws Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 brian 1 swollow doesnt make a summer, where were you at last years sale and presentation dances and the year before that, its the same people every year. me ive had enough, and bye the way its the boys with big teams thats keeping the fed going. if you send 1 bird or 100 bird it costes the same to send the transporter down the road. if you want to be involved in a sport you have to meet the costs
WulDon Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 about 477 hard neck calling it a national!

This proposal has been tabled before, and as I said, it died on it,s feet, so I don,t see it being a starter, if I remember right, it was only about 4 or 5 that voted for, and the majority against. One good thing about proposals like this, it certainly encourages people to attend meetingshttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif And I have regularly supported fed sales, as well as every other local club, I have not attended dances, simply not my thing. Hope the wee hen comes home fast todayhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif
