blaz Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 i am taking 8 feet from one end off and putting a 8x6 12 box on extending yb sec from 8 x6 to a 10 by 6 . also putting chimney,s on all sections for better ventilation.

chickadee Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 We are altering the lofts for ETS but still having a stall trap as we think that anything can go wrong with electrics so there will be a back plan just in case. Changing the doors and adding a corridor as well, a part where the stock birds can have a bath so they don't splash all over the floor, it is still in the drawing board in his head but I am sure it will up to his usual standards

pearse1888 Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 painted the sheds moved my stock birds into 2 sections now cocks and hens ... had boxes in both but now only in the cocks section got rax made for the hens to stop them pairing up in the winter ... and got my racing sections set up for the 1st time .. always let me birds trap in any section but now 1 trap ... and im going to give the roundabout a bash for the 1st time .. see how it goes. also have let out about 15 old stock birds i had that isnt doing the business and bringing in new blood .. to many birds !! also have 2 young bird lofts for 2 teams of 50 .. so everythings ready to go for breeding .. wont be long in going in

kev43 Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 wel we stopped racin at peterboro 200miles,,then started our alterations,,pulled yb loft down which was facin the east and 2 sheds pulled down 2 put yb loft in their place and is now facin south,,altered the roof and put half corrugated upvc to light the sun in and sliding shuttters inside so we can stop sun if its 2 hot and 2 close @ night for when it gets chilly,,new vents all the way along the bottom front with slidin shutters in side 2 stop damp air gettin in @ night,, new hygrometers in 2 make sure temperature and humidity inside the loft is right at all times,, and chimneys in and fan vents 2 b added soon,, then we have just started 2 take roof off the widowhood cocks end and fitted with corrugated upvc, 3/4,s corrugated sheetin and 1/4 plywood sheets so plenty sun will b on them most ov the day,,did same with shutters in the roof as the young bird end and same with vents all the way along the front and shutters and chimneys and fans all soon 2 b fitted same as yb end,, so wont b much 2 do thru winter then birds can rest and moult without bein disturbed..oh the happy days sittin in the house with nothing 2 do when finished at gdn on those cold days ov winter ;)

ALF Posted October 11, 2009 Report Posted October 11, 2009 My mate who was looking after my birds when i was away in Turkey for a fortnight there done all my y/b loft with engine oil again so thats it sorted for the winter no probs ;) That's 1 less job to do now!!!
