timber for loft panels

I am going to try to make my own sliding loft panels,anybody know where i can get 2x1 inch by 6 feet lengths of timber,about 16 lenghts,at a reasonable price. I could go to my local Travis Perkins but i thought i would check the site to see if anybody has some or knows of some second hand.I am in the N.E. of Scotland.

Shoudn't cost you more than about 20 quid anyway

Get friendly with your local builders merchant is the best way I have found. I got 11 mtrs of tile lath (to make the trap for the from of the loft) for £4 yesterday !!! :-/

where about in the north east are you?

I made my aviary from tile battens, really cheap. Just try and select them with as few noughts as possible.

B & Q are cheap  25mm x 50mm x 2400mm £1.18

do a search online for the prices and sizes.

My sliding doors are made of roofing slats,any of the roofing lads have them on stock or any builder merchants,as ally mac said pick the best ones out with no knots in.
