OLDYELLOW Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 Glad to see they're still working back. How were returns for Orgs in your Amal? few back in club yesterday but very poor returns so far im awaiting result as yet but i imagine be only a few on it , yet another great channel race this year with a bad decision to liberate on the Sunday with rain on the coast just one hen to come so hopefully she wont be far behind , one more channel race and old birds be over , gone too fast this year
lanarkshire lad Posted July 14, 2010 Report Posted July 14, 2010 like john has said it take special birds to do the 500 600 plus races.some of you men that have raced birds at these distances for years .how much harder is it now compared to years ago to get birds to race it .how much bigger are your losses from the channel racing, with all the new technology mobile phones tv radio army radar pylons up and down the country ect ect (no experience at these distances myself yet)Todays long distance pigeons are as good as any long distance pigeons of the past IMO.The biggest challenge they face these days is not mobile phones pylons or radar its the BOPS i think they things are at the root of plenty bad races these days. The vast distances the pigeons have to cover they must come up against them plenty times.Flying in small groups getting scattered every so often must take its toll on them.
