geordie1234 Posted June 27, 2010 Author Report Posted June 27, 2010 second time out the night and theyre moving about better already and they are coming in no prob when a shake there feed do you think im better putting them out in the morning before work about half six
geordie1234 Posted June 28, 2010 Author Report Posted June 28, 2010 So does anyone think I could let them out this early about half six
travis Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 Hi Mate, personally id get them confident in the evening before you let them out in the mornings. I think their body clock tells them they've got all day ahead of them and they are more likely to roam. Of course you want them to do this but maybe when they are a bit more experienced. Good luck mate they look great.
geordie1234 Posted June 28, 2010 Author Report Posted June 28, 2010 What about feeding then I've been giving them about a teaspoon each in the morning then letting them out at night so they are hungary and easy to get in then giving them a feed wen they are in are they okay not eating allday obv as they're young you want to bring them on etc
travis Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 Id say a good feed at night and a little in the morning is fine. You are right not to keep them too short though, its an important time when they are growing. Id rather them not rush in than stunt the growth. Plenty of time to get them trapping like bullets! A little bit older I always used to feed 1 1/2 oz per bird per day split 1/2 oz in the morning 3/4 oz in the evening. A cheap pair of plastic kitchen scales will sort this out for you, also its an easy way to +/- a bit when the food needs 'tweaking'.
frank-123 Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 george phone me i have lost your number there is a youngbird waiting on collection today from jimmy mcmillan up in blantyre next loft to jim wylie

geordie1234 Posted June 28, 2010 Author Report Posted June 28, 2010 no mate still think i get some back once the rain goes ofCool mate shud I put mines out in the rain or are they better kept in
geordie1234 Posted June 28, 2010 Author Report Posted June 28, 2010 found my lost yb but very dehaydrated and canny fly so ive got its on its own with food and water see how it is in the morn!!! the other young birds were out the night for a half hour is it normal for them to start going up to the roof and sitting there until i cal them in this is only the 3rd time out should i call them to the loft everytime they go up to it? where is the closet place i can buy a feeder the one ive got is far too wee for them just now? Should the grit dish be left in all the time aswell ive just started leaving it in and some of the pigeons have had orangey droppings is this the grit just breaking there grub down
geordie1234 Posted June 28, 2010 Author Report Posted June 28, 2010 also can anyone adves me on how many ybs i can fit in a 5x6 section ive got a 10 x 6 split in two old birds ybs ive got nine just now but getting offered more left right and centre
travis Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 I know when you first asked this I said id always been told 20 birds to a 6x6 section as a rule. Reckon you could go 18, dont know what others think. Dont overcrowd them mate, you'l just be askin for illness. Could use both sections year 1 if you are keen for more?
geordie1234 Posted June 29, 2010 Author Report Posted June 29, 2010 Suppose I could but it then means I have to dispose of some next year or build an extra loft and believe me its took me 2 year to persuade the misses to get a ten by six lol
geordie1234 Posted June 29, 2010 Author Report Posted June 29, 2010 The wee yb a got back is badly shaking do you think its the end of the line
