Guest Reeco Jnr Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 Hi all just wanted to see how many people have lost birds and had them reported, there seems to be more losses than ever and less and and less reported, we only seem to get phone calls off non fanciers who pick up birds and go through the time and effort to report them but nothing off fanciers?
sapper756 Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 It is getting increasingly difficult to get couriers when you need them, especially from down South to up here In Scotland and vice versahttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif
OLDYELLOW Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 had two reported this season one a yb i gave a friend and other a race bird , not had any others reported i take both Scottish and nehu strays as far as Sunderland when i go up north once a fortnight mainly liberating as near as home as possible , not many will know i've help there birds but the way i see it is im doing my bit to help others and hope most at least try to liberate bird when recovered up the road a bit 9/10 will go home when right :)also reported a scottish bird
Guest IB Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 One reported last year direct (wing stamp) by a fancier, and one reported this year through SHU by a non-fancier. I've only had the one stray, a Welsh bird, enter my loft in recent years, and reported that direct (telephone ring).
Guest Reeco Jnr Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 We hardly get any reported seems the trend to be honest and there wing stamped and have a plastic phone ring, we have quite a few IHU birds dropping in now and again we've had about 4 this week. Looks like its not only us that lose them and never see them again then.
blaz Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 in 10 years racing i have had 2 birds reported.

av8or Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 I report strays almost every week. I reported two last week, one of which from Southern Ireland, which was collected from the South coast of England and I have litereally reported 2 birds today. Now, I have only been in the sport for 3 years now and in that time, despite losing my fair share of birds, I have NEVER had a bird reported to me by another fancier. I don't believe for one second that ALL my birds are hitting wires or being Hawked. I believe that fanciers out there (and you know who you are) are either keeping birds as prisoners or worse still! I play fair, I don't expect anything for nothing and I would never destroy anything that didn't belong to me. There are some unscrupulous fanciers out there!
PIGEON_MAN Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 Lost 4 birds in the last 5 days,2 youngsters missing after a hawk attack,1 reported in Wrexham by a fancier the other reported in Bristol by a non fancier this one was presumed hawked and died the next day,the other 2 are missing from the weekends race from Messac, not long had 1 of those reported dead on the beech at Budleigh Salterton Devon, nothing on the other.
pigeons widow Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 We have had three of our own pigeons reported by fanciers this season. As Couriers we have picked more up this year from both Fanciers and Non Fanciers than we did last year.Sapper, we pick up all over the country for Scotland If any pigeon flies into our own loft, we contact the fancier and deliver it back to him free of charge
Guest dodgydaz Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 since i started back racing last year, i've only had 2 reported, 1 i fetched back and the other was released nearer my home and eventually it worked its way back. spent a fortune on address rings but doesnt seem as though people bother with reporting pigeons. ive only had 1 stray in which the owner fetched when i contacted him.
Guest Reeco Jnr Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 After a hawk smashed seven bells out of our young birds training last week had 1 reported its the first one for a long long time so there's hope yet, still 14 missing though absolutley gutted
wings Posted July 4, 2010 Report Posted July 4, 2010 It is getting increasingly difficult to get couriers when you need them, especially from down South to up here In Scotland and vice versa Sapper756 if you ever get any birds in the Lancashire area i will gladly bring them to Scotland and release near your place or meet you or anybody from there i normally travel upto Scotland early monday morning, its just a thought because you say you struggle to get birds up there.
