paul10121968 Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 my first race of my first season was from swindon.i was out the back unfortunately but all birds returned .race 2 was from newbury(76 miles)still out the back and dropped 3 .race 3 back to newbury,a good improvement this week,my birds were 4th club ,13th section and 21st open .was really pleased with this result as the team was not raced last year they are a strong team of yearlings but very inexperienced.this week at epsom for race 4 (121 miles).had a early bird but damn ets ring would not register on pad.had to clock 2nd bird which came 20 mins later.but despite the teething problems i am really impressed with the way in which the team is progressing.looking forward to next week,we are at dover (193 miles)got 5 cocks to go.the rest have been stopped for next year.good times.

paul10121968 Posted May 11, 2010 Author Report Posted May 11, 2010 dover was a tough race for my birds.they came in 15 mins behind the leaders in our club, but on a plus side all except one have returned on the day.i am resting them next week because its a cross chanel race from lillers.some of them are only just turning a year old and i think that it would be better to save them untill their older next year.they will however be sent to the drop back race from newbury in two weeks time.it,ll also give me a chance to concentrate on my young birds and get them ready for the start of their racing.busy times ahead. :)
alex young Posted May 11, 2010 Report Posted May 11, 2010 The races for my birds are a lot easier than most on this site, after 9 races my birds have only been 105mls(m/w included).1st race 5th,2nd race 4th,3rd race 1st,4th race 1st,5th race 3rd, 6th race 1st,7th race 1st,8th race 1st, 9th race 2nd.We have 14 fed. inland races and 6 m/w race and I don't race the channel. I have raced the distance in the past and know how difficult it can be.atb. in the coming weeks.
