we have more bad then 10 years ago, when i was a nipper the 6 weeks summer holiday where always sunny not like now, 1 week or 2 if your lucky. there has been reports on the news that spring is 10 days early. our weather is changing, would it be idea to change the whole racing program to suit weather conditions. or is it the strain of pigeons. you have long short middle distance pigeon. is there a wet weather pigeon. i am new to the sport and dont realy now what am going on about there is probably a good reason why its the way it is. carnt be all down to the race controler surely.

Maybe some send pigeons (especially YB) that aren't up to the job ? Do we all breed too many ? Do we say "They've got to go" It's not always the race controllers fault. I wouldn't want the job. I'm bad enough worrying about training !

It should be the easiest job on the planet given the internet which was never available years ago, BUT then again once the flaps are down nature takes over. This is what makes the sport great and acts as a leveler

PROBABLY THE MOST DIFFICULT JOB IN PIGEONS, IS RACE COTROLLER AND CONVOYER, BUT THEIR ONLY HUMAN AND CAN MAKE MISTAKES AS WITH ALL OF US, THE OLD SAYING COMES TO MIND , YOU CAN PLEASE SOME OF THE PEOPLE, SOME OF THE TIME BUT NOT ALL OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME,,, BUT GETTING ROUND A TABLE AND DISCUSSING THINGS IN AN OPEN,TRUTHFULL AND SENSIBLE FASHION , MIGHTJUST BE THE WAY FORWARD,

Your right rose that is an excelent idea, we seem to know what the weather is doing better than the people controling the events, so there should be a site where all race controlers have to go on race days which people all over the country can post reports of the conditions and also the controlers could be in better contact about lib times to help prevent clashing. not too hard to do in this modern age, but even if that becomes the thing in future then the "cowboy" convoyers want outing thats for sure, as some of their acts just this weekend alone are nothing short of barbaric

Very good idea Rose. I would think the RPRA could organise this sort of thing. I for one would pay more subs. Because if we have too many more of these allegedly terrible libs the "aninal rights" could begin to take more notice. Just a thought....

PERHAPS THE JOB COULD BE MADE EASIER FOR THEM JIMMY JUST AN IDEA WHY NOT SOMETHING LIKE A WEBSITE WHERE PEOPLE COULD DO LIKE WE DO ON HERE POST UPTO DATE WEATHER FORECASTS FOR WHERE YOU ARE AT LEAST IT WOULD GIVE THEM SOME IDEA OF THE WEATHER FOR THEIR BIRDS LIBERATION TIMES OR EXPECTED TIMES OF LIBERATION TO AVOID CLASHING    IT WAS JUST IDEA ANYONE ELSE GOT ANY IDEAS THAT MIGHT HELP?

GOOD IDEA ROSE BUT IT SEEMS THAT SOME OF THEM ARE THAT THICK THEY WOULDN,T KNOW HOW TO SWITCH THE LAP TOP ON TO GET ONTO THE WEBSITE.

I'm the Controler /Liberator for our Combine. You are Dammed if you do and Dammed if you don't, I just try and find a happy middle. I start 2 days before shipping looking at 4 diffrent weather sites, watch the local weather channel  on TV. If it looks bad I send an Email to all clubs and members in the combine to have them put pressure on the race Sect to cancel if it looks to bad. It then is up to the Flyer if he wishes to place birds on the transporter if the weather is bad. That is the real Key,the owner has made the choice to send his birds knowing it could be bad and that in turn gives the weather a chance to take his birds ,not the controller and transporter. Each Flyer is the main Controller of his birds when placed on the truck  in a basket. All the people can do is try there best from that point on. Even on a nice Sunny day you can have a bad race if the K factor is up and the winds shift. mostly its the Flyer who didn't win who is mad  8)

AS YOU MUST HAVE SEEN SLATEY MY FEELINGS TOWARD OUR CONTROL TEAM BUT ON THE OTHER HAND I HAVE ARGUED IN THEIR DEFENCE [ NOT OFTEN ] BECAUSE I KNOW MEN WHO WANT A RACE NO MATTER WHAT, THE SAME AS YOU GET ,THE CONTROLLERS FIRST THOUGHT SHOULD BE THE BIRDS NOT THE RANTINGS OF ONE OR TWO MEN WHO WOULD PUT BIRDS UP IN ANYTHING JUST TO HAVE A RACE

Hi Tammy

Heard a wee wisper danny la rue for race controller

help ma bob think Ill take up golf naw to much exercise chess yes chess

The Bottom line is if the pigeons are conveyed for a race the conveyor, race controller, fanciers and the Combine/fed/nat should be prepared to do whats best for the birds and if thats a holdover then so be it. Many organisations dont even take a bag of corn so its easy to see what there intensions would be!! Throw them out whatever :'(
