Guest Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 I've always thought Biss as a racing man but I'll put a different slant and for me the greatest pigeon man I ever met was Taffy Bowen not just as a great racer but a man of immense stature and a great leader and he would have been in any aspect of life, I was lucky to have an open invite to call in whenever I was passing unfortunately I never realised how priveleged I was. Some others from Wales, Channing, Morgan & Cook. Bale Bros & Griffiths and still doing it Alan Reed and Ken Darlington at the top. I will also mention ex club mates of mine Pearson & Dransfield at the top for 5 decades.........I always remember turning up at the first meeting and as I stood at the bar there was a chap as big as me I asked him if I was at the irght place for the pigeon meeting, he said yes he was a pigeon fancier and he introduced himself as Frank, he was very 'humble' it was in fact Frank Pearson; this was and is the only club I know of where the ace fanciers were looked up to reveered and respected and liked and by heck there were some top fanciers in that club, and of course in Barnsley Fed............and one other partnership for some reason who does not get the plaudits they deserve.........Geoff & Catherine Cooper, in my book a lovely couple (I am biased though cause I do have a penchant for gorgeous hens ;D)
