I haven't read the original as haven't many of you who seem to have jumped all over this chap , he's got an opinion either agree or disagree if his comments make you angry reply to it , but do it as a responsible member of the forum, there are plenty of ways to refer to someone as the last 1cm of your lower intestines without actually using the phrase which so easily comes to mind . Why bother in the first place ,some people write to get a snappy response out of others don't rise to them, there are some of you who are out there thinking " well thats what you are doing " WRONG , All i'm trying to do is what someone in authority should do with this site, point out that replies without reasonable restraint are GOING TO DO YOU AND OUR SPORT DAMAGE. I don't post a lot and so won't be missed. but when i do the replies i get are very helpful.

But it's beyond a joke now . Your not all pigeon fanciers on this site , judge jury and executioner is how i see it , some of you seem to have realised that there are youngsters and possibly non fanciers( interested in the hobby /not interested in the hobby anti's ) reading this and have caught on with the implications of what you are writing and I agree that if you want to call someone who you've never met and who's typing style offends your way of life then it should be done on private messages, otherwise the gossips jump on your case and down we all go again.

I won't be posting again and I feel bad that you can be so narrow minded.

Merry christmas and success for 2007

This is the perception you're faced with.

If there's a bad smell in the house I generally open the windows/curtains and let some fresh air through; find whats causing the problem in the first place, then sort out the underlying problem, whatever that is...

It looks to me as if some serious housekeeping is needed here if the site is to continue to be a great place to visit (which it has been) and exchange ideas about racing pigeons.

Please please organisers sort this out before any more valuable additions to the forum leave with the wrong take on what this is about.

I live in a remote location and dont get much chance to exchange views with other fanciers so i'm seriously interested in the future of the website. Take care of it, it was set up for the best of reasons.  :)

I and my moderator colleagues like other members did not join pigeonbasics to be moderators, we joined to be involved in a different level ... an international level ... in friendly chat about pigeon subjects.

We cannot be expected to police standards on this site 24/7.

Instead, there is a code of conduct and members tacit agreement to abide by that conduct at all times ... most members do, but some don't.

Despite being repeatedly warned by moderators and the webmaster, these members continue to blatantly ignore the repeated wishes of other ordinary fancier and non-fancier alike.

On the subject of webmaster. No webmaster, no website.

On the subject of good interesting material. No good material, no new members, no hits of a critical mass to attract advertising sponsorship, no sponsorship no income to keep the Site running. While members run events to help running costs, the real coverage of running costs is from Advertising income.

No advertising income, no website.

Can't spell out possible future scenarios if the few are allowed to spoil things for the many any clearer than that.

i totally aggree bruno, this is not a place for people to air there dirty washing or slander people, this is a pigeon forum, for anything pigeon related, some think that this site is hard on people being allowed their say, its not because i can assure u on the other sites u would not last a second on them posting some of the things that are on here, and arguing with junior members, we adults are supposed to help junior members and encourage them, youngsters do sometimes come out with things not as they should, but thats where we as adults help them not jion in with them, the only good thing about some of the posts i see on here is it brings back memories, yes when i was 5-6 year old in the school playground, come on webmaster sort it out once and for all and if the big majority who like the site wants it to continue then u will back him 100%, whatever he dose, unless he closes it down of course.

i think there is to many chiefs and not enough indians on here you BRUNO for one the way i see it is if it is not your way it is no way , what is the point of coming on here to have posts edited . i am not saying some should not be edited but the standards should be the same for all , i do not think this is happening some people can post what they want others are edited or removed. let the j. white thing run its course and let the members decide if they still want him to be a moderator if not they can leave. this is my opinion and my opinion only.

On your first point: 1 webmaster, 4 moderators, 800+ members, 38,000+ posts.

On your second point: all moderators are responsible only to the webmaster. Anything I remove I do so in accordance with code of conduct. Webmaster reviews everything I have done. He alone has the final say.

On your third point: this is not a kangaroo court.

On your fourth point: moderators are selected by the webmaster according to his own strict standards, not to the standards set by any kangaroo court.

If you don't mind me asking what are the running costs of this forum?

i agree with you but not all have the same standards just look at some

of the posts on here and you will see some people can slag off others but some people have there posts deleted or blocked before they can answer

If you look at the stats, and acknowledge that it is a tiny minority of members that are 'slagging off' then perhaps you will acknowledge the moderators problems. Do I/we

(1) Sit here 24/7 looking at every post that goes up and kill absolutely everything. Possibly a dictatorship.

(2) Alert Mod team to potential flashpoint threads, Monitor these only.

(3) Follow and hound [dog every footstep and post] of individual members, 'personal favourites'.  Probably victimisation.

(4) Rely on the mutual respect of members for each other, [don't need to like them to work with them towards the objectives of this site] and give due regard to the feelings of others. Adhere to Code of Conduct.

I know which methods I want to be associated with, and those that I don't. Again personal choice.

WHY DO YOU NOT GET ALL THE THREADS TAKEN OFF WHERE THERE IS A LOT OF SLAGGING TAKING PLACE AND THEN SEE HOW THINGS GO BECAUSE THERE ARE THINGS STILL ON THE BOARDS THAT ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO BRING UP A LOT OF BAD FEELING AS LONG AS THEY CAN BE SEEN, AND FOR ME PERSONALLY IF SOMEONE PUTS UP SOMETHING ABOUT ME I AM GOING TO RETALIATE IF I AM LEFT ALONE  I WILL HAVE NOTHING TO RETALIATE ABOUT

Moderation

Forum Moderators are normal members, not employees, who have been hand picked after they have managed to prove consistently that they have the skills and experience needed for helping us maintain fairness in the Forums.

dont think there has been any fairness you take off what you like and lock what you like and say what you like

Sorry Bruno - you are biaised - and its obvious

You are quite correct, I am biased. I sat back and let certain things run when I should have acted sooner. I had hoped members would have come into threads to add balance and support in them, 'self-moderation'.

That is not happening now because some are ganging up and bullying others, especially members who aren't quite as skilled as others at defending themselves, and other members are being scared away from lending even moral support.

You yourself enetered into one of these types of thread, and rather than support the weaker member being attacked by the stronger, you undermined his confidence even further by referring to his mis-spelling. Being a perfect gentleman, I shall of course refrain from pointing out the mis-spelling in your own post.

I am a moderator and I am unafraid of being seen maintaining the objectives of this Site.

If I am correct, you are referring to a series of threads posted on the Website News and Views. The reason three of these threads were locked, is because they were created to continue a theme which I had brought to an end. If the participants had read the code of conduct, it would have been obvious that these three threads shouldn't have been created in the first place. Members don't have the right to question moderator's actions. These threads did that.

On the question of the original thread, moderator team. At the height of the harassment that was going on, another moderator posted 'STOP'. None of you did. Your own pm to me alerted me to that 'something' was going on, and I came to the thread late. I read it from the beginning. The last post and therefore the last word on it was gloat. Thought: Good job, another wee laddie nose rubbed right in it. Hope you are all proud. Well his 'Big Brother' helped him out. OK for you lot to say what you like, about others,  but you don't like others to say it about squeaky clean you [singular & plural].

moderate: avoiding extremes, temperate in conduct or expression; fairly or tolerably large or good; a person who holds moderate views, especially in politics.
