edthekid Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 i think inland racing will go ahead...but channel looks poor..the french have a low view on us racing from there when theres no threat................we need more coverage in the media to show there is no threat from racing pigeons...caught a glimps of john craven yesturday on tv ...........he quoted all pigeon racing was band.. how can you ban somthing thats not even started

barlbylofts Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 All bird gatherings - including shows, markets and fairs, and pigeon races - have been banned nationwide (throughout England, Scotland and Wales) until further notice (this will be kept under review as the disease situation develops). from defra today 5/2/07
sapper756 Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Carry on as normal untill instructed to do otherwise
peterpau Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Just carry on as normal and look to those who organised good racing last year. MNFC and NFC are out then.
Guest Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 I will still be pairing March 1 as planned carry on as normal
Diamond dave Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 We have to stay optimistic about this and I think it could be a good excersise for them to go through. If they can contain this outbreak successfully they might view the overall threat in a different light. I do have one problem with inland racing due to the fact that I live in the Milton Keynes area and I couldnt stand just flying the 120mile to the coast each week so I think i will be looking for a North Road club to join. D.D.
Guest Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 keeping the youngbirds u have already bred or dispose of them?...as they wont be any good if they dont have the experience of at least training or having to fly around the cot...paul i think some may have misread my posting...i stated that if racing was stopped(this yr) for all of 2007,wot would u do with this years youngbirds u bred...not wot ru gonna do this year....paul :)
Wiley Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 i personnally dont think it will be i reckon just the rules and regulations will be changed. I think those flying south could be in abit of trouble as we all know the french arent our biggest fans. But if it come down to what ya said if they havent been let out or trained what is the point of keeping them and i entirely believe pigeons need to be trained on the year of there birth. So if they cant be trained to atleast 100 miles if racing is canceled then no i couldnt see the point
Diamond dave Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Paul, I for one would keep the best of my young birds in the hope that even if racing is stopped we may get some training in later in the year. If you recall last year we were able to do this as long as you didnt train with any other birds i.e. not a "gathering". D.D.
likklegriz Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 just carry on as normal for me if no racing i still enjoy having the birds around ;D
Mike Lycett Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 You obviously aint heard the news No probs racing (inland anyway).
Guest stevie-b Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 last year we had the same thing we thought we would not get racing but it all died down the same will happen again it is an isolated case by the middle o march it will be all over
PIGEON_MAN Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 All bird gatherings - including shows, markets and fairs, and pigeon races - have been banned nationwide (throughout England, Scotland and Wales) until further notice (this will be kept under review as the disease situation develops). from defra today 5/2/07 OBVIOUSLEY YOU HAVN,T SEEN THIS NEWS MIKE.
Mike Lycett Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Yes - It's all over PigeonChat - but the news is a-changing all the time ;)
Mike Lycett Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 The update you posted was as a direct consequence of the communication between DEFRA and Andy Galley. The proof is in the emails posted all over igeonChat. There has since been further announcements too from DEFRA and Peter Bryant. What you've quoted isn't the most accurate update. Was updated earlier today
Mike Lycett Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Can exercise - (except Norfolk etc) Can have sales (from 1 loft) Can train (independently) At moment racing etc currently prohibited. What IS concerning though is that the French are only saying "They remain vigilant". Personally, between you & me - I've doubts over an extensive Channel programme At end of day it'll all be decided on if / when /where any future outbreaks occur England & France aint gonna be good news.
