Pompey Mick Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Solent Fed at Cholet, 258mls, sent 2 (damn 7 day rule) We are at Picauville next week, 100 mls and then they can't be raced the following week, tried to get it swapped for an Inland race, Committee says no! We are heading for financial meltdown. £1-88 per bird last week for Cholet. It will soon be cheaper to send to the Nationals.

Guest Vic Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 N.W. Combine at Fougeres for third weekly channel race (360 MILES). The restrictions make it harder, after two soft openers, especially on the natural system. What a load of red tape. > > Vic.

Mike Lycett Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Worcester Fed Kingsdown put their marking back to Saturday for a Sunday race after considering the forecast for Saturday.
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 I KNOW FEDS DID THAT LAST WEEK UP HERE AND SATURDAY WAS BEST OF THE TWO, BELIEVE U HAVE TO MARK BIRDS ON FRIDAY AND HAVE THEM AT RACEPOINT JUST IN CASE
Mike Lycett Posted June 14, 2007 Report Posted June 14, 2007 Would agree - but some Feds seem so reluctant to holdover these days
Guest TAMMY_1 Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 Would agree - but some Feds seem so reluctant to holdover these days Well that is the problem with some, but u still have to be there just in case
GUTTY HEN Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 Northwest fed should be at Ripon but if the weather isnt any better in the next 24 hours then we might just have a race from otterburn. This will be decided by 12noon today friday. We will see what the forcast is at noon today and then see if we basket today for saturday or basket saturday for sunday. I want the birds to have a chance for the members to send them back next week to the fed open and the snfc race from maidstone also the idear of a come back race is for training for birds to go to the big snfc races in the next 2/3 weeks all you want is for the birds to have a nice race to set them all up. The other reason for a come back race is for birds that have missed races earlier in season to get a race under them before the end of the season. Then there are the feds who like the come back race because they make money from them.

Guest Posted June 15, 2007 Report Posted June 15, 2007 I KNOW FEDS DID THAT LAST WEEK UP HERE AND SATURDAY WAS BEST OF THE TWO, BELIEVE U HAVE TO MARK BIRDS ON FRIDAY AND HAVE THEM AT RACEPOINT JUST IN CASE You can only go on what the weather folks tell you Tam, and weather seems to be a female, changes its mind every other minute of the day. ;D Can't agree with marking in face of a bad forecast. Surely the best place for the birds is in their loft rather than in the transporter. Holdovers cost money, and there have been a few threads recently about problems with birds at home rising off the nest when the others are absent - even on a normal Thursday marking. And 6 days in the basket then brought home, and holdovers to Mon, Tue recently is a repeat of the weekend a couple of years back where despite the weather forecast, orgs still marked. Only difference then was it was done with YBs.
