Guest Paulo Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 hi paulo, i know a bloke who wins with them upto 500 miles!! and he wins with them at 60 ,iles aswell!! alot of its down to the feeding and the fancier, you and me will learn it 1 day speak for yourself boy I'm becoming a jedi already 4th in my second ever race this time next year I'll top the amal lol ;D ;D ;D ;D Just wondering as I have a few gabys now in the race team and they are doing well and might have a pop at the channel with them next year.
shotgun tim Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 only way of finding out if they can fly the channel is by sending them if they are prepared for it correctly
schouwman71 Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 middle to long distance.the ones ive got carnt beat the sprinters i have, they are always the last back and do get left behind in training, but will this be reverse at 200mls plus ? one thing i do know there definatly bad day birds.
swilcox Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 There slower than Janssen based birds but they are good pigeons when racing 6 to 9 hours so they suit 250 to 400 best!!!!
Mike Lycett Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 All depends Our Gaby's have won multiple RPRA Region Awards at 0-250 miles It's like all families- Good & Bad in all. Gotta prepare em right & entertain no crap
Wiley Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Always thought the gabys were sprint middle distance?
Chris Little Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Gaby Vandenabeele has won 5 Belgian nationals, 400 - 500 miles
swilcox Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 I thought those sprinters were Verkerk pigeons Mike Nigel Templer time in the Top 100 from Tarbes this year with a Gaby cock that has won a shed load at all distances!!!!! He was bred from 2 directs!!!! Stuart
Mike Lycett Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Houdini was mustard Stu & he is a Verkerk - but both Gareth Gates, Donovan and Maxi were all Gaby (Max was 50% and won in the 0-800 miles category). They were our Region Award winners For mw, its simple - put a bit of fizzzzz into the Gaby's (Quality first time cross) and they explode. Gordon Bros are mustard in the EDC this season (7,000 birds +) and they're a mixture of Verkerk, Gaby and 1st crosses
blackjack Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Micheal is anybody getting these birds at 5/600mls on a regular basis on harder days and or 1st cross again 5/600mls on harder days thank you.
Guest CS Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 Middle distance, but they can do any distance...
Mike Lycett Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Basically, if you're looking for a 500 miles plus family of pigeons I'd tend to steer away from the Gaby's. They can do it, but it's not what they're renowned for. 0-450 miles I'd say they're as versatile, durable and competent as anything.
swilcox Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Noticed with mine Mike that they dont tend to make greatest of young birds esp the cocks, but ofcourse old bird Nationals are the game. At the moment the Vredeveld Janssens are out in front at Denston Walk. Stuart
mickmcgrevy Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 one of my gaby's was 130th open Pau NFC 704 miles and flew Tarbes this year. some pigeons will fly 500 and some won't, doesn't matter what so called strain they are, its down to them and how they are treated.
bobby1 Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 1st cross is always the best for super sprint birds.
Roland Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 1st cross is always the best for super sprint birds. Agree and crosses for racing and line jus for the 'Blood' ... but too few realise that .... hence the churches over full, - note not saying overcrowded!
