Negativity???

As you may see i am a new member of this forum, and it has surprised me by all the negativity on this site!

 

Its a good site but why are other members constantly making such remarks and posts, especially when a lot of the thread starters are young fanciers requiring help??

 

I'm sure this thread will be pulled, but maybe members need to look and read before they post.

Unfortunately there is a lot of negativity in the game, there has been for years! As far as this thread getting pulled, i don't see why it should be, there is nothing (yet) inflammatory of liable about it.

If you ask for help on here, you will receive it without doubt, or at least advice on where to go to get the help you need if it can't be provided!

Yes i did, but it was in disbelief at the things being said on here, and one in particular i was not the only one as it has now been pulled.

Just wondered considering by your own admission that you are a new member on this site, how you can then say there's a lot of negativity on it, perhaps inferring negativity is part & parcel of our Site culture?

 

It is part & parcel of the human psyche tho, and   ;D as most of our members are human  ;D there are bound to be some examples crop up from time to time. Wouldn't say that it is representative of the majority tho.

I agree with you bruno, there is attitude sometimes on here but everyone has opinions so there is bond to be.

 

I go on a couple of other sites and feel this one is the most positive and i really feel that behind the odd disagreement 99% of the members of this site will help each other when it is needed. fair enough mickb we all get wound up sometimes but as long as we pull together when it matters who cares.

The problem with not having negativity is that you have censorship. That is no good to anyone, there have been posts I'm sure we've all read where we've thought this should not be on here but then who decides the benchmark for this, the moderators and as Bruno says they are only human to.

There's nowt wrong with negativity as long as it's not atached to lies and deceit, it is actualy the start more often than not of healthy debate.

 

I for example have never posted on the Pigeon chat site even though I was a member, when I went to change my e mail address in the summer and you wait to reactvate, I have not had an e mail allowing me to reactivate, I've even e mailed Andy Gailey about it and been ignored. I suspect it is because of the holy trinity around Mr Van reet and my condemnation of the word 'pleb' as a descriptor of ordinary pigeon fanciers. An example of negativity perhaps where those in power have taken their bat home and punished someone for having the temerity to challenge?

I have removed all my posts from the thread on the "other site" and asked for the thread to be removed. I apologise for any offence i have caused to anyone by taking it there. But i stand by this thread, and although i am a new member i have been following threads on here for some time, so my opinion was not based on some "fly" decisions".

 

The object of this thread was not to attract "comments" but to hope members consider there replies when posting, an have a bit of respect for other fanciers.

I would think that a lot of the negativity is "tongue in cheek" and can spark off healthy debate the biggest problem is when someone  puts their "mouth" into action before their brain is in gear.  :B

Agree, but the catalyst for me writing this thread was based on a couple of posts aimed at young fanciers on here, we should be encouraging them not trying to be-lttle them.

Maybe you have to be on the site a while to realise the following

 

THERE ARE MEMBERS ON HERE THAT NO MATTER WHAT IS SAID BETWEEN THEM, NO OFFENCE IS TAKEN.  ;D

THERE ARE MEMBERS ON THE SITE THAT JUST WANT TO COMPLAIN EVEN AGAINST THEIR OWN POSTS. ;D

THEN THERE IS THE GENERAL BODY OF MEMBERS WHO JUST USE THE SITE TO TALK ABOUT PIGEONS AND STUFF

BUT AS IN ALL WALKS OF LIFE IT IS THE FIRST TWO THAT YOU WANT TO TAR THE SITE WITH.

This is a learning curve for the big bad world when you get unwrapped from your cottonwool cacoon that you seem to have been kept in. I think not ;)

Do you think negativity could be misconstrued from the sarcasm on this site?  Personally I love the banter, i love the pigeon talk, i love the way everyone helps you and it's life that we won't all agree all the time isn't it?  Be a boring world if we did.

 

This site is brilliant,  I've had loads of help from people who don't know me and have made contacts that i hope i will know for life.  It's a great source of informaton and a little community.  I'm addicted that's for sure.  It certainly makes me smile when the banter starts - i dont think that any of it is meant to be personal. ;D

I can hohnestly say ive only ever recieved help on here.There are a few characters that clash and there is a lot of harmless banter that sometimes get's taken to seriously but the negativity is minimal in my opinion.
