Guest TAMMY_1
What pigeon product have you bought that you found out to be a waste of money because it made absolutely no difference to your birds ? Orego -stim is one of mine Gemthepax is another of mine Matrix is another of mine. All very expensive but found absolutely no difference in my birds after using them. Hogni
The only products i have bought that i felt a difference are brewers yeast and a special icelandic cod liver oil for the winter, so for me almost all the other products are a waste of money, but i do use some natural stuff that i buy in the grocery store. Whats it called Cumbernauld
Brewers yeast and cod liver oil worth the coppers they cost.If you have money spend it on the best birds you can find. If it is not in your birds you can feed them on gold pellets, which would make no difference to there performance as I am sure most will agree
Andkar Lofts
cod liver oil & brewers yeast ,when breeding change to wheatgerm oil... garlic cloves in water .........used them for over 30yrs & no complaints ,see no reason to line someones pocket with these so called wonder additives ........... nature provides most of it anyway ........... Brian Smith
Used Cod liver oil for twenty odd years then had problems with blood quills Rod Adams advised us not to use Cod liver oil, we stopped using it the blood quills stopped the performances where just as good. schyphos
Wasted money on Gemthepax, not worth the asking price. Matrix is good for the birds, but again not worth the asking price. You can make similar up yourself.Far cheaper.
NANCYVIEWLOFTS
lets get back to natural products then at least if they dont do any good they at least wont do any harm to the birds
Merlin
A conservative estimate would be 90% of products offered for sale re our pigeons, provides no additional benefits for them,in most instances its just a marketing scam.maybe in some instances birds LOOK better, but definitely makes finances lighter.the neccessities can be bought off supermarket/shelfs chemists/shelfs in most cases at a fraction of price. WELL the birds performances or droppings did not alter in the slightest after using them, I think for example the pictures you see advertising orego stim with the change in droppings, i think there would have to be something wrong with the birds in the first place to see any change that is in the photo, came to the conclusion as long as the birds are fit and flying and winning well none of the products i mention that i have tried would have improved their performances any, so based on that I think the vast majority of pigeon products are a total waste of money , only my opinion though, if filk are happy buying and using everything that is their choice. steve d
I do believe most of the commercial products are rubbish but one that i will not speak bad of is carrs adherb, If I could only use one product this would be it, the feathering becomes softer and brighter, the droppings are firmer and drier and if used correctly a bottle will last the season. I have not had young bird sickness for last 3 years since using this, it could just be coincidence. We are lucky in the West Midlands that Cosworth Stud and Feeds use adherb on the mixes they mix themselves so I dont even have to buy it in the bottle anymore :D :D
swilcox
I use very very little, Natural Oils Garlic/hemp/wheat germ etc which i buy from non-pigeon suppliers, Garlic powder from Mole Valley and Cider Vinegar. The rest i found a waste except Gemthepax which i like for breeding
Delboy
The best products are the natural, inexpensive ones.ie vinegar ( apple cider ) sugar ( honey or molasses ) and salt ( for re hydration ). These all cost in total ,about a fiver. We all know that everyone thinks there is a magic potion for the birds, but there isnt. You cannot beat natural health ( form ) in a loft. I agree totally in the past i have used pretty much everything going for the stock pigeons when breeding this year they have had nothing just a little bit vinegar in the water .. also i used to have lots of small pots full of differant things such as grit ,pink & black minerals , homaform ,pickstones etc , this year i have used none just the pikpot which is grit & minerals mixed in a small clay pot we get 24 pots for £12.00 which lasts quite a while. and this year i have reared some of the best ybs for a few years, i am not knocking the products but i have proved to myself that you can do without them !!! I also like Iodine for my racers especially the Young Birds
