Simeon Turner Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 If I were looking for 600 - 800 milers from this country, I would without a shadow of a doubt go to Louella, for me their Jan Aardens etc are the best in the world, asbsolutely beautiful specimens. - I know they aren't exactly cheap, but the quality is first class.
swilcox Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 Simeon They are unraced- so untried therefore they are untested. I always say it to people, you should only buy off people who race pigeons!! Stuart
swilcox Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 Sorry Delboy i missed your post. The first long distance pigeons sold were in 2006 so some fanciers will be going to 500 miles with 2 year old this year!!!! Fanciers such as Gordon Bullock timed yearlings off Tarbes NFC in the top 100 this year, as did Richard Grayson Flying 150 miles farther than most. Most People got them to 400 miles where they scored. Ofcourse it takes time for any distance family to take hold and i believe these will, i have 16 pairs of them and i have chucked the barn door at them and only droped 29 from 32 which im very happy with and they have won plenty along the way. Stuart

Stuart Stu, the Red Cock that we have left from the Old Theelen Red Cock, we had no choice but to put to the stock loft, to ensure we had something from him! Otherwise, he would have been our No. 1 choice candidate for Bourges 570 miles this year. We have grandchildren in the racing strengths now, but they are only yearlings! They will be going to the UNC Channel races this year, and possibly the NFC! I wil let you know how they get on mate! But, I fancy them Stu, I really do!

I always say it to people, you should only buy off people who race pigeons!! Stuart How far back ... grandchildren and crossed double grandchildren bought off Louella have won Nationals and an international. Many top flight flyers have as such. Even Belguims have won national buying off Louella. But one must remember that these are off remarkable class 'Winners' and well looked after.
Guest casbri Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 been looking at distance birds ...the best distance birds are from jim hannah from lanarkshire beautiful birds good in the hand and very good from 500 to 700 miles.
Guest slugmonkey Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 Try to find some Jim Biss birds or some Jos Thone we hold 3 of the long distance national records in our club A guy named Bill Bonwell had 2 x 700 mile day birds one year he recently sold out so some of his birds are probably on the net you might also look at Borkeman ( Marsallis ) or another bird is MARATHON KING this is a Barry Yu bird but it has been the long distance ace 2 times
Michael J Burden Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 david fox I have two red cocks bred by David off birds he purchased from me. Both red cocks are late breds in 2006 but flew Tarbes 674 miles 2007 with nest flights. The 1st one was 135th open NFC.
