Why don,t YOU explain it??????? :-/

It.s not up to me to explain why others are not saying anything suffice to say I am telling the truth and have nothing to hide

I could give you endless problems but what is the point if you are NOT having problems that does not stop others from having them. Some clocks have worked for a while then problems

I know Unikon watch this site my phone no is 01224 741028 if they would like to contact me

(bet that won't happen)

I was on the phone for 4hrs not long ago to them and still problems

Lets wait till the nationals come round.

There are birds being accepted at club level that will not be accepted at the National table

I know of two clubs been waiting a year for the clocks / base stations to be returned which were sent back faulty ????

Promises Promises

Have all these problems happened since the major 2.80 update with club Manager 2008 or have you had them in Scotland since ETS was introduced.

I've had the 'unable to store loft number' error but the rings still registered.

What makes rings acceptable at Club level yet unacceptable at National level.

Would be helpfull if the Unikon rep. who watches this site, could come on and answer some of these queeries :-/  I at no time indicated that anyone was lying, simply wanted to know what problems people are experiencing, as we use this system also ;)

We had the same thing happen in our club,a member had a bird from the race when we came to print off the arrival time the only thing that was on the print off was the number of the bird,no time or date of arrival, but when she went home all details was still in the base.Unikon said the pocket clock could not have been in the base when the bird arrived, but the member said it definatly was.

You are totaly wrong we are having these problems we are in the SHU who are doing nothing about it. I am sure when it hits the RPRA they will ban it

I am glad Taylors lofts has come on and told you about his problems I can vouch this to be true and he is not the only one.

It's a sad day when you cannot trust your clock and nobody is interested they have our money and don't care I would like to point out the ETS agent is in Taylors Lofts club and has been unable to help or is not caring as he MUST know of the others.

I am President of the Federation this is how I know about these poor members

I spent last Tuesday in one secretary's house from 10.30am till 5 in the evening trying to sort out his problems.

I have discovered his scanner is faulty his PSU went down when I was there and his clock has a problem

I can syncronise his clock in my data base print out his assigned birds to prove it, as soon as his clock is syncronised in his base station it accepts the clock and his name and all that but wipes his birds

This has all happened since we have installed Unikon Manager 2008

We have been useing Unikon in the Fed without any problems till this year

I now have members thinking of changing to another system including myself and I have had Unikon since June 1999 that is a lot longer than most

So please dont tell me the union will do anything about lets hope the guy's in England can report there problems to the RPRA and see what happens.

Hi Sapper

Point taken

There is no chance of him replying as with other problems if you leave it long enough they hope it will go away

I cannot understand why we get all these updates without them being approved by the SHU

You NEVER get told what they are for.

I understood all software had to be approved by the union as has been proven this is not true we get update after update but the union knows nothing about it why not.

Cheers

I can,t understand how it took you so long, can you explain please ;)

It took so long cos the first members to basket at this open race had an updated version from the rest of SCOTLAND. Reason being his clubs base station packed up and he was given a new one by unikon which had an updated version. His birds were basketed and updated the open marking base stn, so every other clock had to spend time updating. Now come Friday all the club marking will be delayed due to this situatrion. Hope this explains. Its no rocket science...

I have received the update data, if ur BIOS is lower than 2.82 or 2.85 then u update, and ur  U and R must read the same, you get this when you first turn on your base station, you will see the letters U and R the reading next to them should be the same my one is reading U 2.8  and R  2.8. so needs updating, but I will not be doing so until after this weeks race so gives time to deal with any problems, if there is any,

When my club did the last update, because we all had pocket clocks we set up a seperate  updated  loft clock and updated the pocket clocks as they came in, prior to marking. They then updated each members loft base clock when they took them home.  I dont know how this would work with just the base clock, will an updated loft clock update another loft clock ?

Same here fifer. As most people know we had a problem 2 weeks ago when a racer arrived home, and went through the wires and timed itself in. The problem was, that his clock was not in the base station, so when it came to striking off, that birds time was not there, details of the bird was but no time. The reason it was not on the print out is because the base station did not know that there was a race on, and only does if the the clock is inserted into it prior to the birds arriving. As for this happening when the clock is in, i dont know what happened there. We have had members tell me that some birds dont time in(including myself), but as they are there they put them through manually. Apart from that, there has been no other problems to record, to date.

i think that the rpra are doing a bad job by not looking into the probs as they would do if it was a clock

i did not mean to imply that you were not having probs

No offence taken mate i,m just trying to work with the system as best i can. Dont get me wrong its not ideal to be faced with these unexpected problems.

birds not timing in could be that the pads are too cloce to the base, you get that also when u are assinging if the base is too cloce to the security ring.

You might need to have another look, they are now on 2.87, it's a joke, our whole club have boxed them up, waiting till they get it sorted, when you speak to Darren Harrold, he does not seem to realise the importance of timing racing pigeon's !!! The RPRA should step in and stop the use of them till they have been tested properly.
