thunderboult Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 my best moments this year were topping the fed for the first time(twice) and clocking a bird in race time from tarbes 614mls the first time i've sent there, last year was the first time i'd sent a bird further than 480mls, i sent 2 hens to palamos(753mls) and got 1 . so this year i wanted to do better on the longer races and got 3 out of 3 back from tarbes(although 1 had to have a lift home for the last 28mls or so after running out of steam) and i got 2 out 3 back from bergerac which is 514 mls to me in west wales , finishing in the top 10 in my section in the nationals from both races, we're a fair way behind the winner's but it made me happy.
alex wight Posted September 17, 2008 Author Report Posted September 17, 2008 Some cracking stories here, well done to you all.

Guest Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Mine has to be breeding 2 x 1st national winners in 1 season. Fantastic!!! Which did you breed?
Guest Vic Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Ater such a rotten season, I was pleased to win the all race combined average. Although after winning it for about the 30th time, I always have a go for it! (Just proving how long in the tooth I am) Or some may say "big in the head". LOL
Guest Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 Mine personally, was timing in "early doors" in the morning from Bourges, (approx. 570 miles) taking 4th UNC! A thrill i'll never forget! Joint Second was seeing my Dad's face at his beloved Yellow Cock timing in from Andrezel (approx. 480 miles) to top the Fed, and take 28th UNC, his second UNC chalk this season! The other was seeing Amanda's (Dark Chequer) face after she timed our second bird from Bourges, her first ever clock in up here in the UNC, to take 120th UNC! All precious moments for me that money couldn't buy, the memories will stay with me to my dying day!
heather down Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 mine was starting up with young birds again with a friend of my late husband. We got 2nd and 3rd first race and 1st Club and 2nd Derbyshire Fed a few weeks later. We also did well in the Grand National Race withDerby and Burton South Rd Fed coming 34th also doing well in MNFC Lessay and Picauville winning pools. Can't wait till next year for the season to arrive. It has given me something to work and look forward to since my husband passed away. I'm sure he'd be proud of me, we won Bergerac MNFC in 2003 hopefully i'll suceed again.
