long distance birds

hi i fly puresoontjens and have some page jansenn

 

can anyone tell me the best longdistance ones to go for or some avice on what breed  .........i would like to go up to 6oo/900 miles abird thats got stamina, i no alot will tell me all different breeds but im going to have to go with my gut feeling and my heart,

Have a word with Paul Wooliss on here - From what i have seen of his birds they look very good with the results at the distances to match - will find his website for you in one second.

my advise would be,, forget about the " breed" try and get birds bred  as close as possible to birds that have scored at that  distance

dixon of york van hees 700 milers

my mate recomends them hes scored with them from france into aberdeen

also he said venner of street birds

the dixon birds are sometimes in the bhw

their is a guy who keeps the venner birds pure he doesnt race

but sells saw an ad in the bhw last year

Seems not to matter what strain but the Buschaerts and Kirkpatricks have served me well, There are some Aardens on here for sale that could do you some good.

Now I saw things differently Peterpau. I looked and they are a long way from the apple tree in my view which is not so good.

Want some distance birds? You have all the tools you require already at your finger tips. Internet and the RP and BHW. It does not take to much reasearching to find out good fanciers. Like has been said above "forget strain names" get some pairs say 2 pair. Get 6 ybs off each pair 8 if you can and test them as ybs upto the last race. The better ones if there are any, will still be with you next year.

If I was in your position I would look at the grizzles on EPS, sorry if I have just swarn, but they look like the goods. By buying some from someone like this you can ring them up for advice too, tell them your plans. If they are decent fanciers you may find some ybs coming your way. Cultivate a freindship with these type of fanciers, phone them up. If you don't know what to ask, write some questions down before hand.

Can confirm the Paul Woolliss birds are great birds to look at and handle ! and will find out inthe next couple of years if they fly as well as their ybs look and handle !!!!

Hi I fly Ko nipius they do well for me.  But no where near distance you mentioned as never tried them.  I would go to few different flyers I feel.  But if serious about 700 miles then would have Brian Denney down as man to contact also worth looking at some scotish blood, Jim Donaldson flown well for years.  Then in Ireland Alan Darragh or David Black.

It is as  simple as this Asha. If there were three birds for sale and you wanted one for the stock loft:-

A son of a Champion bird

 

a grand son of the same champion bird or

 

a great grand son of the same champion bird.

 

Which one would you buy if they were all the same price?

 

I know which one I probably go for as many others would do too. This is where the good apples come from.

 

Don't tell me you would go for the great grand son because it skips generations
