sapper756 Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 what do the members think is the best racing system, widowhood or natural? :-/ :-/ Sprint to middle distance,,, widowhood Long distance,,, natural
grizzal Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 Sprint to middle distance,,, widowhood Long distance,,, natural yes we agree
ALF Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 I think it's all down to what suits different people re..working hours etc but everyone to their own at the end of the day
OLDYELLOW Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 i like widowhood all the way through
mac1 Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 I think it's all down to what suits different people re..working hours etc but everyone to their own at the end of the day i agree with you
fletch Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 Sprint to middle distance,,, widowhood Long distance,,, natural i agree with this but widowhoods do the distance well but i feel natural will bring better success,,
ribble Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 I think any of the widow type systems are better for the working man. But i love the natural system, nothing better. So a bit of both for me, split early season and then repaired for the long races.
jimmy white Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 widowhood ,, a good system for all races ,, but in 5 to 600 mile races some birds will race better w hood , some natural , depends on the individual bird , sometimes a good natural hen can be the dab hand in these races ,, but its the old story,, horses for courses ,,,but know your horses
Ronnie Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 Its funny since my missus has been doing write up's for BHW ive seen a few different systems .The thing is there is absolutley no fixed way of winning .Its whats suits the fancier and more importantly what suits the birds. Many ways to skin a cat as they say.
Taylorsloft Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 i think the best one is the one that suits you .i fly round about
PATTY BHOY Posted December 5, 2008 Author Report Posted December 5, 2008 could someone please explain the roundabout system please.
Guest redwhiteblue Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 could someone please explain the roundabout system please. let them out roundabout theloft lol
OLDYELLOW Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 you basicaly have a sliding door between 2 sections 1 let hens out then clean move cocks in to hen side , trap hens into cock side 2 let cocks out clean out move hens over back to there side clean cocks let cocks back inthere own side early part same as widowhood but flying both out and racing both cocks and hens
PATTY BHOY Posted December 5, 2008 Author Report Posted December 5, 2008 would image a lot of work required.
Guest rodders Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 no extra work but you need twice the time for exercise
jimmy white Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 would image a lot of work required. it is a lot of work patty bhoy, but if perfected can work well, with both cocks and hens , i would prefer the w,hood system flying cocks i hour am then i hour pm [rest in between], but there are as many systems ,as there are races, so theres many roads lead to rome,,,,,,,,,the system that suits your times ,work, etc is best,,, when perfected
Guest casbri Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 i fly widowhood up to the water races start then pair birds up
van Roberts Posted December 6, 2008 Report Posted December 6, 2008 total widowhood for me going to give it a go next year that way you can race hens every week if wanted cock every other week do what the rest of world are been doing for quiet a while
Simeon Turner Posted December 6, 2008 Report Posted December 6, 2008 With the old birds we race widowhood (Cocks & Hens) right from 73 - 527 miles. With the young birds we race them on the darkness and keep the sexes together - next year though we are going to race the young birds on widowhood also
