If i was just starting up i would'nt want anymore than 40 Pat ;) Although a loft that size will easily hold about 70-80 y/b's

difficult to say as we dont know what the sections are -perches, boxes

i would set up my loft first

if a section with 40 perches put in 36 y/b,

if a sec with 16 boxes put in 16 y/b (cocks if you can)get them settled to boxes for the future

the biggest problem is overcrowding (keep less keep them healthy)

id say it would fit 60 - 70 ... the less the better ...i had room for the same and started with 44 youngsters and they performed brilliant ...id say its all about making work easier but put all your time you can into them and the lower the number the more work you put in to what you have .... this year i have a new loft extended and my aim is 60 young !!!!! hope this helps as my first year last year ... if you concentrate on lowish numbers its better id say ... all you need is 1 v good one ... thats the one i have not got yet but hopefully one day it will come along hey !!!!!

I think about 50 to start with Patty however i would get them on darkness and also have the cocks moved to the boxes at the earliest opportunity im presuming the loft is empty from anything else. Gives the cock longer to take a box etc
