Roland Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 500 miles on a norm day is not that hard in reality. Yes Asha the NRCC (East Coast Club) is a joke. Not that you can knock the flyers... The instigators and Favoured few cliche yes. Was told by a Comittee man that could let up in a East Wind, because it would blow them into the mountains :-/ :o What a load of balony... But blowing them across the continent is fine eh! Also Why not the West side? r even more central libs... will never happen of course. Have done the Durham, Arbroth a couple of time... But is a Joke. Now any bird, especially a day bird in decent conditions that flies into Wales Devo / Cornwall from Thurso, Lerwick are blumming good birds. No two ways about that. And yes the North rd is far harder road tan South. East Rd is fairer to most.... but favoured Cliches make sure that will never happen outside of F & M indeed not even that now after OTHER names did well and the Usual location bought brigade weren't so hot... I'm why buy the place if they move the goal poasts eh! Won't happen again, no certainly not!
hotrod Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 For me the toughest route of the lot doen to Plymouth. Not flown anymore but to get them to Bridgwater tough pigeons, headwind all the way, a few hawks in Scotland ;D, and a couple of hundred mile of water normally before they hit the mainland. The toughest route of them all which I don't think is flown anymore? must have been from strasbourg east west at 600 mile. The type of bird and management developed will suit where we live. Some areas will require tougher hard pigeons than others, some will need pigeons with great homing ability, Asha mentioned the 400 mile front. Well I'll put that on a par with the smaller Scots National club, with small birdage flying. 600 mile, there's no drag, you need top pigeons, suited to fly to that region, but they may be different type to the one flying in to Cornwall at 600 mile, the cornish pigeon in normal NFC racing will more often than not fly 520/530 mile to come in to England around Weymouth - Isle of wight and then dog leg back another 170/200 mile! But regardless of area it's tough to be top dog and if you are top dog in your area I take my hat off to you; and to Thunderbolt keep your strong mind and opinions, nothing wrong with it, and I reckon you may well end up top dog in your area, like Hotrod is and like what I'm hoping to become at the distance. your spot on mate bird are different around britain , even in scotland ,some say the west birds are slow compared to the east birds ,maybe it's because of the prevailling west wind the birds in the west are normally not IN time with the east birds . but when it's a 2 day race the west mostly always are well in , as iv'e said before horses for courses, so to answer the thread go and buy from someone who fly's into the same type of area as you
ally mac Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 there is only one place i would'nt like to race birds into worse than were i fly is wales You forgot about me Hotrod

hotrod Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 i said fly doo's into your in a place that's in my opinion just about imposible to compete in
Guest Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 i said fly doo's into your in a place that's in my opinion just about imposible to compete in That hits the nail on the head 'difficult' that was what I was trying to say about flying competitively down to the Lizard, the didfference being possibly in an east wind a Cornish bird could win at 600 if it had the courage to fly 200/300 mile directly over water
Guest asha Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Alan, that`s what happened when the nfc last showed their b***s,and gave ALL the birds a massive jump into San Sebastion, and you only got to look at the time a lad clocxked way down in corwall to see his bird went straight across the bay of biscay to home jesus talk about take the straight route, more on 400miles at least, and that was on just 4 or 5 20 miles tosses all season as conditioning, makes you relise how little we know about the doo`s
hotrod Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 hello asha im mean adrian lol, ive never got any retention money back from any jobs ive done , especially rocky's wifes wall

OLDYELLOW Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 going to send this hen to 510 mile this season Kirkpatrick cross Van Braune if all goes well Hi Oldyellow,i recon thats a good pairing, griz of the kirk`s to blue of the van braunes, cant tell by the pic,but i bet the griz put soft into his coat, did you remember the pepermans, same ideal, very rare now. pepperman Jansens never heard of these dark velvet birds but they were lovely to handle the VB X Kirkpatrick bred one red grizzle and one blue bar with bronze on top which has moulted out and is just a blue bar now , the grizzle was a casulty to the hawk been mainly white , so i've repaired the hen to a Leo Lukkasen Dark cock which flew Blois ( just over 400 miles to me ) so the colouring wont be a factor in this years pairing and hopefully i will remain hawk free this season .
