It has lots of different seeds in it, millet, rape, hemp, canary seed, groats, bound together with eggs and baked, i call it flying cake. The ones that dont care, please dont read this. ;D ;D PS. sher Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Wrong, recipe passed down to me from my grandfather. Given to him in 1953. I have been pmd by an older guy who uses similar recipe. The old timers knew their stuff. hi,as a lad in the 60s i kept tumblers&tipplers one morning letting the birds out before going to school an old chap was standing at the back of my pigeon shed and the very first thing he said to me was(you got to give them the cake) i thought whats he going on about ??)well the next morning he came again only this time with the cake he picked out one grizzel and two black badge tipplers and told me to keep them alone in the orange box,s, he gave them this cake and within a couple of weeks they were flying from one hour up to fourteen hours still up on coming from school and they took some dropping, the tumblers would fly upto four or five hours, he stopped coming to see me and i found out later he had passed away, i learnt later this old chap was fred cope he held the world record for tippler flying at some point, i dont know to this day what was in that cake but it sure made the pigeons fly 8) one other thing he said was when the birds are off the hooks break a couple of freshly laid eggs and mix into the feed they will be as right as rain, food for thought

Roland Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 As posted on here. Course oatmeal 2lb milk 4 tablespoons salt 1 tablespoon Sugar 3 tablespoons Cod-l-oil 2 tablespoons Calcium fortified tablets2 Vitamin tablets crushed 6 this was many years ago, and was Stan Bishops (old hand)views on what to use in conjunction with a all bean feeding regime, although peanuts /oilseed fed at right time would do just as well for distance racing, wheat germ oil mixed with rolled oats etc turning them golden brown for a few days before would do the business as well.
