Tony C Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Give a very good sprint fancier any of the above strains (plus many that haven’t been mentioned) and they’ll win. Simple as!

les Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 one of the best was MARK CAULDWEL ,but he got his birds to perform ,when others could not ,that includes me ;D.
Guest Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Personally I don't think there is a superior strain of sprinters they will all perform equally as well as each other in the right hands and on the right system. Take the George Busschaert's as an example, hundreds of people have had them down the years, but only a handful of top class fanciers have made them perform to their ultimate best. Too much emphasis is placed on the "new strain on the block" so to speak, but in the wrong hands they are still only mediocre pigeons. Get your own management system right and they will all win out of turn for you JMO Anyone got any tips ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
gangster Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 lefredameions what??????????? do you mean lefabre s
Guest Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Yeah I'm sure he means Lefabre Deahnens Mick, but the poor old begger has only got half a keyboard (times are hard) ;D ;D ;D ;D
pigeonpete Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 i think all the replies to this topic say it all, there is no such thing as the ultimate breed to win at any distance, and i wonder how many of these birds are 100% pure anyway? like everyone says get a good blend of the best birds in the right hands and they will do well for you, but if you try to sell them without a name?? which would you rather have a winning team of heinz 57 that are winning for joe bloggs now, or a team of " pure staf van reets you have just paid 50 quid each for but 3 generations ago they were winning out of turn. i know which most would go for!
Tumley Lofts Stud Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Hi All. Another one in to the pot! Leen Boers! Renowned out and out sprinters for years. One cock 14 x 1sts flew no further than 184 miles and all in 3 years of racing. I don't agree that any pigeon can sprint as suggested above. See any Aardens winning at 60 miles! We have one that has but only once when the weather was realy bad. You want pigeons that do it all the time. Did you see Linford Christy (100m UK sprinter from yester year) winning a marathon or Paula Radcliff winning 100m sprints! I don't think so. Same with every animal in every sport. Consistent winners bred for thier prefered distance. Cheers, James :-)
Tumley Lofts Stud Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 P.S. Some of the above names in those posts were winning with other strains bud then the pigeons happened to change strain!!!
Guest strapper Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 i personally think that its the flyer that gets the birds winning, immaterial what strain it is. the fancier in question buys into a strain works hard then achieves good results. then other top fanciers think...lets get some...then they work hard and achieve good results with that strain...hence a strain being known for winning....when in fact it was that top fanciers choose to race that strain.jmo........paul.
pigeonpete Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Which family do you think are the BEST Ultimate Sprinters in the UK today? Not yesteryear. Say, 70 to 150 miles, in any wind? (I want some, LOL ;D) bet you wish you never asked mate lol :-)
hotrod Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 im astonished that no one has mentioned the gabby vandenabeeles .i know a gfriend who has them and they win /top the fed from 60 miles to 200 miles regularly.SPRINTERS SUPREME
Ronnie Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 best sprinter in my shed is a Staf van reet crossed with a jansen. His half brother was the only bird on the night from Niort. And talking about christie and the like how could they compete at the other distances when they havnt trained for it.I Thank strapper has hit the nail on the head in a couple of post above this one.
DeDarren Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 The Midland National and North West Classic YB events were won into Liverpool in 2008 by Warren, Son & Garrity flying the Willy Jacobs and Denis Sapin families in the main and they have started 2009 where they left off last year, I think the Sapins are a combination of Soontjen & Cooreman blood and I have heard a lot of people talking about them of late.
